Module 5: My Health, My Impact Project Page 1 of 6 Module 5: My Health, My Impact Check-In (30 points) PART 1: Nutrition Assessment | 8 points INTRODUCTION As part of Module 5 , you completed a nutrition assessment that included a food journal. INSTRUCTIONS Based on what you learned from that experience, answer the following: 1. Did you eat food you enjoyed during your journaling period? What foods and recipes did you enjoy? Yes, I ate foods I enjoyed. I had sushi and pizza most days. 2. Was there variety in your food choices over the journaling period? Explain, using examples. I am a very habitual person, so there was not much variety in my food choices 3. Did you notice that your eating differed with reduced or increased sleep/relaxation? Explain in detail the differences for each, using examples. When I slept longer, I ate less. If I relaxed more, I ate more. I cannot eat while I am asleep, and I seemed to eat while relaxing because I was bored 4. Did you notice that your eating differed with reduced or increased exercise and movement? Explain the differences for each, using examples. If I exercised more, I was hungry more often. Burning calories while working out caused my body to require more calories to sustain it 5. Did you notice that your eating differed with reduced or increased stress? Explain the differences for each, using examples. When I was stressed out about school or work, I found myself not eating because I was preoccupied with eliminating the stress. 6. Did you notice that your eating differed with reduced or increased social interaction? Explain the differences for each, using examples. When hanging out with friends, we tend to make food as a way to hang out, so that leads to increased consumption of food.

I am not satisfied with my eating behaviors. I wish I ate more well-rounded meals and less junk food. 8. Based on the review of your journaling period, do you plan to make any changes to your diet? What specific changes will you make, and why? I did not make any changes to my diet because I wanted to capture what I would eat in a normal day so I could see exactly where I could improve. If so, please explain those barriers. Make sure you have read the information about eating nutritiously on a budget first. I do not have any budget barriers for eating healthy. Paying off debt with 10% of each paycheck, create an emergency fund, pick up work shifts whenever possible _____________________________________________ For your Self-Care Challenge, did you do something from the chart or did you decide to try something different? I took ideas from the chart and applied them to myself in a way it made sense to my lifestyle Why did you choose this practice? Be specific. It is a huge goal of mine to get out of debt before moving on to the next big step in my life. These practices can help me toward that goal How much time (in Minutes) did you spend doing the activity? I work 12 hour shifts and picked up 2 a week and spent an additional 30 minutes on starting my emergency fund and paying off debt What about the activity did you enjoy or not enjoy? I enjoyed getting a larger paycheck and paying off more debt than I normally do Would you try this activity again or add it as a part of your self-care plan? Why or why not? I would add picking up extra shifts to my weekly activity calendar because it brings me that much closer to my goal Part 4 continues on the following page
Module 5: My Health, My Impact Project Page 5 of 6 PART 4: Your Impact | 8 points INTRODUCTION In the Module 2 Wellness Spotlight, My Health, My Impact Good Life Goals , you learned about the Good Life Goals. INSTRUCTIONS Using what you learned in the wellness spotlight and the self-care activity that you tried during this module, answer the following: 1. Pick a new goal from the Good Life Goals list. Write it exactly as it was presented in the Module 2 Wellness Spotlight. Decent work and economic growth (Do good work) 2. Suggested actions for each Good Life Goal were included in the presentation in the Module 2 Wellness Spotlight. Explain which action you would take to help support the goal to improve the world that you picked. Was it from the suggestions or uniquely yours? Explain why you chose this action. I would choose learn family finance skills from the list. Finance skills are crucial for a solid foundation in life. Financial wellness lays the path for emotional wellness and all the dominos tend to fall in line after that. 3. Remember that the Good Life Goals should benefit not only you, but the world around you. How might the self-care you tried help you reach your Good Life Goal and improve the world? Explain in detail. Avoid writing “if” statements. I am not sure if having my own financial independence would impact the world per say. It would however, help take the burden off my parents, and they can start to look into retirement. 4. How would the action you chose also benefit your personal self-care? As I said previously, financial independence sets a solid foundation for a healthy and happy life to flourish. Having financial freedom would allow for less stress and more time spent on what makes me happy. Grading Rubric on the following page
