Using Bowen's Reaction Series along with the descriptions of igneous rocks from your textbook, identify the intrusive (plutonic) and extrusive (volcanic) igneous rocks that will form at locations A, B, C, and D. A. intrusive= Peridotite A. extrusive= Komattie B. intrusive= Gabbro B. extrusive= Basalt C. intrusive= Diorite C. extrusive= Andesite D. intrusive= Granite D. extrusive= Rhyolite 5. Suppose you were given a fist-sized sample of igneous rock. a. How would you tell if it is volcanic or plutonic in origin? Plutonic rocks are found underground. They are created when magma freezes and cools underground, they are intrusive rocks. The crystals in the rocks are coarse-grained, and the rocks can be any number of hues. Aboveground volcanic rocks are thought to be the cooled and solidified lava. Small crystals frequently develop in the rocks when the lava cools. Rocks from volcanoes can cool much more quickly than rocks from plutons. Volcanic rocks will have a glossier look, and because the crystals are so minute, they won't be as obvious. Also
