1) List the items on your grocery list you created in Step 1. Navigate to Sobeys’ online grocery
store, Voilà:
https://voila.ca/
Use the search bar at the top of the page to go on your
virtual “shopping” trip. For each product, record the brand, price, whether it’s on sale,
and the original price if applicable, in the table. Choose the brand and quantity of
products that you prefer to purchase. (Add more rows if needed).

Honestly I am surprised at the price of each individual item in the sense that i thought that they
would be more, and i think that i would be able to eat moderately well while not breaking the
bank too much. Now the problem is that this list doesn't account for all the food that i consume
while I'm out, whether its dinners or fast food. Also, there are some items that are not on this list
that i would be purchasing which will only drive up the bill. Right now it stands at 50 dollars for
the week plus the stuff that is not on the list. If after working the entire summer and possibly
working during next year, I think i would be able to sustain this.
3)
Even though food prices have been skyrocketing, and people are finally paying mind to what
they are putting in their bodies, the prices are definitely higher in other parts of Canada. For
people up in the territories, food is much more expensive because it costs a lot to physically
transport the food to them all the way up there. We in southern Ontario are right on the border of
the US and we also produce a good share of food right here.
4)
I didn’t know that there was such a thing on campus but now that I've heard about it I'm
intrigued. I think it could be a great opportunity to create a local market for Laurier’s community
that provides actual fresh and healthy food to students and faculty as an alternative to eating the
processed junk that we do. It could be a source of revenue for the school while also so providing
a cheaper alternative to the store bought produce. I would definitely like to know how it is
operating right now and what the purpose of it is and am definitely going to go check it out in the
future.
