One of the possible choices you will have for your final examination SAQ
is that of geography. It
has and will remain a vital characteristic of human history and ( as Jared Diamond says) our ability or
inability to handle our geography can make or break us. In short, geography is the study of the Earth
(and all of its natural functions). We have looked at the 5 themes originally in September when Mr. Help
reminded us of movement, regions, human environmental interactions, location and place. The themes
of regions and human/environmental interactions are the focus of the essay. You must first identify a
region (it can be physical, environmental, economic, cultural) and evaluate how humans have been
impacted or have adapted to the region (manipulated, altered, impacted) and assess whether positive or
negative. Today we will start with regions. Please identify what the following have in common:
