REFLECTION Amanda Reynolds Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Walden University EDUC 1004 Professor Marsha Miller December 24 th , 2023
REFLECTION I mentioned in my initial response that the physical, cognitive, and social-emotional domains all have an equal impact on the development of a child who is growing up. My viewpoints have not changed as a result of additional contemplation and investigation; rather, they have gotten more established. My belief that all three aspects of a child's growth have a significant impact on the child's overall development remains solid. The assumption that a child's development is primarily governed by their biology and genetics was one that I brought into the class with me. However, I've found that environmental factors, including as the behaviors of parents, the relationships they have with other people, and the cultural influences they are exposed to, also have a significant impact on the development of children. The idea that a child's development is solely determined by their genetic make-up is debunked by the fact that this is the case.
There is a possibility that I will conduct conversations regarding child development with my friends, family, and coworkers in order to dispel the misconceptions that others have and to share this newly acquired information with them. In addition, I may share relevant books, articles, or research results that emphasize the relevance of taking into account all aspects when nurturing the healthy development of a child. Through the provision of scientifically informed tools and knowledge, I am also able to assist parents and other caregivers who may have erroneous beliefs on the manner in which children grow and develop. In the realm of child development, one aspect that took me by surprise was the tremendous influence that early experiences had on the development of the brain. Learning about the concept of plasticity and the significance of early experiences in the formation of the structure of the brain was a really enlightening event. I was amazed by how observant and receptive early toddlers are to their environment, as well as by the potential for these experiences to have a long-lasting impact on the cognitive and socioemotional development of these children. The development of children's brains is something that I would be very interested in learning more about in the future. It is of interest to me to determine how their mental processes and their ability to solve problems evolve over the course of their lifetime. This passion is connected to my professional goal of working with children in an educational setting, which serves as my professional ambition. My comprehension of cognitive development will improve

as I have a deeper understanding of it, which will allow me to better assist students in the classroom with their cognitive development. In order to acquire a deeper understanding of this particular aspect of child development, I plan to read further books and research articles on the subject of cognitive development. In addition, I will investigate the existence of opportunities for the professional development of this subject, such as attending conferences or seminars. There is also the possibility that I will submit an application to graduate school in order to enroll in a course or program that focuses on cognitive development or child psychology. My sensitivity of children in situations that I see on a daily basis has improved ever since I enrolled in this class. Having gained this understanding, I now see and appreciate the significance of their cognitive, social-emotional, and physical growth. I am paying closer attention to the ways in which individuals interact with one another, how they solve difficulties, and how they move around their surroundings. Having this information has not only helped me better understand how children grow and develop, but it has also increased my capacity for empathy and compassion toward the unique challenges and strengths that children possess. Whenever I interact with children, I make it a point to cultivate an atmosphere that fosters their overall development, and I also make an effort to be more patient and understanding with them.
When everything is taken into consideration, my perspective on children has evolved, and I now recognize the complexity and significance of their development in every aspect by myself.
