ENG/210 English Composition II Week 5 Summative Assessment: Specific Genre Writing. Erik Edward Krisovitch Instructor: Lowrie Fawley 2/10/2024 Part 1: Written Piece Subject: Plan to Execute a Flexible Remote Work policy for Amplified Productivity and Employee Well-Being Dear Senior Managers and Executives, I am in hope that this email reaches you well. As we seek for excellence and efficiency within our organization, I am hoping to nominate a consideration that I personally believe will overall benefit both productivity and the well-being of employees: The implementation of a remote work policy. Audience and Purpose: This email is intended for executives and senior managers of the organization. The purpose of this email is to recommend a flexible remote Work-from home policy and to request an opportunity to openly discuss the potential benefits that it may offer to both employers and employees. Context and Trends: In the structure of the current work landscape, working from home is not a new concept but is growing in acceptance and imposition. According to the Harvard Business Review, companies that offer more suitable work arrangements have higher levels of employee gratification and productivity (Bailey & Kurland, 2020). This topic is very crucial to me because I have perceived that the severity of the current on-site work environment impacts both employee well-being and overall productivity in general. Remote positions and more flexible work arrangements could potentially offer employees a better work life balance which will lead to higher job gratification and improve commitment and performance. Implementing this change sides with my interest in organizational behavior and employee well-being. Proposal: Given the mentioned benefits, I am proposing that we establish a flexible remote work-from-home program for six months. This program would allow employees to work from home remotely for up to three days a week, provided they meet all their obligations and performance metrics. Next Steps: I kindly suggest we schedule a meeting with the applicable stakeholders to discuss this proposal in detail. If agreed upon, we can move forward with planning the pilot
program which will include setting KPI’s and selecting a suitable team to initiate the trial. Your prompt attention to this proposal is greatly appreciated. I personally believe that adopting this change can be very beneficial to employees and provide them with a better work-life balance and potentially increase productivity. Best regards, Erik Edward Krisovitch Senior Team Leader Cc: {Any other stakeholders} Part 2: Reflection What genre did you choose for your written piece? In what ways does your writing demonstrate this genre? The genre that I chose for this assignment consisted of a professional email that was aimed at changing a policy within an organization. The writing coheres to this genre through its organized format, greeting, and focused subject line. Additionally, it uses formal language and addresses stakeholders within the organization discuss a policy change. All writing has a purpose that is unique to the situation. What did you hope to accomplish with your written piece? The primary purpose of this email was to first discuss the implementation of a flexible remote work-from-home policy: and secondly to recommend an open discussion with senior managers and executives about the potential benefits of implementing such a policy. What research did you conduct for this assignment? The research conducted involved reading a credible article from the Harvard Business Review that supports the claim that remote work-from-home positions can increase productivity and employee gratification in companies by offering flexible working arrangements (Bailey & Kurland, 2020). This was provided in the email to strengthen the proposal with observed evidence. References: Bailey, D. E., & Kurland, N. B. (2020).
