The dissertation writing process is a significant undertaking requiring considerable time, dedication, and effort. In this paper, I will discuss my dissertation topic considerations, my confidence in identifying research problems and gaps in the literature, and the next steps I will take to prepare for my dissertation. When it comes to my dissertation, I am considering researching different areas, such as the minds of murderers, juvenile killers, and the psychological factors that contribute to the behavior of serial killers. These topics are relevant and timely, requiring a multidisciplinary approach to understand their complexities fully. I can contribute to the existing literature and advance our understanding of these phenomena by focusing on a specific topic. I am confident in identifying a research problem and a gap in the literature.
I will continue to study and learn to ensure that I am up to date with the latest research in my field. By constantly expanding my knowledge, I will be able to identify new research problems and gaps in the literature that can be addressed in my research. To prepare for my dissertation, I will start by gathering and reviewing literature on my selected topic. This will help me identify potential gaps in the literature that I can address in my research. I will also consult with my advisor to get their feedback and suggestions. Once I have a straightforward research question, I will develop a research design and methodology and collect and analyze data. I will also address ethical considerations throughout the process and seek guidance when needed. One of the main challenges of the dissertation writing process is to develop a clear and concise thesis statement that outlines the dissertation's main argument. The thesis statement is the backbone of the dissertation and provides a roadmap for the entire research project. Therefore, it is crucial to invest time and effort in developing a
solid thesis statement that is relevant, original, and significant. Empirical evidence and theoretical frameworks should also support a strong thesis statement. Another essential step in the dissertation writing process is to develop a literature review that provides a comprehensive overview of the relevant literature on the topic. (Walden University, n.d.). The literature review should be organized thematically and should give a critical analysis and synthesis of the literature. By doing so, the literature review will provide a context for the research question and highlight potential gaps in the literature that the research can address. Once the literature review is complete, the focus shifts to the research methodology. This section should describe the research design, data collection methods, and analysis techniques. It should also discuss any limitations of the research and address
ethical considerations. The methodology section is crucial to the credibility and validity of the study, so it is essential to invest time and effort in this section (Grant & Osanloo, 2014). In conclusion, the dissertation writing process is a challenging but rewarding experience. It requires a deep understanding of the chosen topic, critical thinking, and research skills. I can contribute to the dissertation writing process by providing accurate and relevant information to the best of my abilities. I will strive to complete a high-quality dissertation
contributing to the existing literature on our understanding of complex psychology.
