EDUC 5313 FINAL PROJECT AND PRESENTATION
For the final project in this course you will create, present, and submit an Instructional or Lesson Plan that you
develop and deliver to a group of students or peers to address content and ISTE standards.
The Final Project is a
culminating assessment addressing the following outcome for the M.Ed. program:
Candidates use technology to
facilitate developmentally appropriate, collaborative learning in face-to-face and virtual learning environments using
a variety of digital tools and interactive technologies and to support student construction and demonstration of
skills and knowledge (InTASC Standards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9).
FINAL PROJECT COMPONENTS
Instructional/Lesson Plan:
Revise/Update your lesson plan using the
Kolb Triple E Lesson Plan Template
. Be
sure to include the following information in your lesson plan:
1.
Audience: Who will you teach? Grade level and content area.
2.
Standards/Objectives:
a.
Content Standards:
Which content standards will you address? What is the learning
goal/objective(s) of the lesson(s) you develop and deliver? What do you want your students or peers
to know and be able to do by the end of the lesson? How will you know that the goal/objective is
met?
b.
Technology Integration Standards: Which ISTE standard(s) is the best aligned with the content
objective and a good fit for the instructional task? How will students use technology during the
lesson to address this standard/objective?
How will you know that the goal/objective is met?
3.
Resources/Media: Include any and all resources you use to teach the lesson. This may include exemplars,
presentations, assessments, handouts, videos, websites, etc.
4.
Plan for technology integration:
How are technology tools integrated throughout the lesson to address the
learning goals and address Kolb’s “E”s?
5.
Detailed Lesson Plan (
Procedures
): All learning activities are described including a description of what the
teacher does and what the student does for each component of the lesson. Teacher notes to support
preparation for the lesson should also be included where appropriate. Instructional support and Universal
Design for Learning (UDL) strategies are integrated.
6.
Assessment: How will you assess learning associated with your lesson? What do the assessments tell you
about student/peer understanding of new content? Include assessments and artifacts produced by
students/peers during or at the conclusion of your lesson. Formative and Summative Assessments are
integrated and described.
7.
Feedback from students/peers: Include opportunities for feedback during and at the conclusion of your
lesson (Examples: questions you ask and responses you record, questions included with assessment items,
digital survey, etc.).
Learning Artifacts/Feedback
Artifacts and feedback provide additional perspectives for your consideration as you reflect upon the effectiveness
of our lesson.
LEARNING ARTIFACTS: Deliver your lesson to students or peers and collect all learning artifacts produced.
Learning artifacts may be products created during or after the lesson, assessments, observation notes from small or
whole group learning activities, etc.
FEEDBACK: Request feedback from your students/peers about the lesson and the learning activities included in
the lesson.
Virtual Meeting Presentation
The virtual meeting is an opportunity to discuss your lesson, receive feedback or suggestions for improving the
lesson, and consider implications for future lessons. During the last week of the course, you will meet virtually with
peers and instructor to discuss your lesson. Details about the virtual meeting format and a Doodle poll will be sent
out to determine meeting times for small groups.
Be prepared to share and discuss the following in your presentation in the virtual meeting:
•
Discuss learning objectives addressed in the lesson (Content and ISTE standards should be addressed).
•
Provide an overview of the lesson design. Describe the learning activities that were included in the lesson
and their alignment with the instructional design model you followed, and the standards you addressed.
•
Discuss learning artifacts, feedback, and assessment items. Do your artifacts indicate that students achieved
the learning objectives of the lesson? Based on artifacts, feedback and assessment, what would you change
to improve the lesson?
•
Re-assess your taught lesson using the Triple E Lesson Plan Design Rubric and discuss potential changes to
improve alignment with the Triple E Framework.
•
Provide feedback to peers and use feedback provided to make adjustments to your lesson.
After the virtual meeting you will have the opportunity to adjust/revise your lesson and submit your final project.
All materials must be submitted to Blackboard for final assessment.
Reflection
Reflect upon your experience developing and teaching your lesson, changes you have made to the lesson plan, and feedback
you received from students, peers, and instructor.
The reflection should be at least 500 words in length.
1.
What went well in your lesson? Provide support for your answer.
2.
Were the content learning objectives achieved? Provide support for your answer.
3.
Were the ISTE Student Standards met?
Provide support for your answer.
4.
What adjustments/improvements to this lesson or changes in the delivery of the lesson would you make if
you taught it again?
5.
Use the Triple E Lesson Design Rubric to self-assess your lesson. What can you apply in the future that you
have learned in this course and through the development of this lesson?
SUBMISSION OF FINAL PROJECT: Upload project components listed below to Canvas and add
components to your personal website (no K12 student names/identifiers should be included).
