What's Trending in Children's Literature and Why It Matters is a PDF report by Kathy
G. Short. In this paper, the author goes into great depth on the results of her
research into the patterns in children's literature, how they affect the reading and
publishing processes, and what kinds of books were being written and on the
decrease. She discusses the rise of e-books and reading apps and how it is
influencing book publishing. Finally, she discusses how the rise in video games
among kids and the rise in visual and vertical learning impact authors' book-writing
processes and the qualities that publishers seek in potential publications. The online
article "Recent Trends in Children's Reading" explores the effects of technological
advancement and digital advances on children's learning. Also, the way that schools
are incorporating the use of smartphones, tablets, and video games into their
curricula has changed how kids read. They go on to list more ways that technology
is changing how books are published. Yet the novels published for young readers are
changing as a result of the current cultural upheaval. The one thing that surprised
me throughout my study and reading of the many publications was the surge in
refuge novels and multicultural books. I was aware that Spanish culture and
language were frequently included in children's books and novels, but I was less
aware of other cultures. The bulk of these books are written by English-speaking
authors since few of them have been translated, although many of them have close
familial links to the many cultures throughout the world where their works are set. I
believe that this tendency will likely last for a long given the rise of refugee families
arriving to America from various parts of other countries. Some trends in children's
literature that I've seen directly include the rise of digital and technology-based
books and reading. I've even utilized technology such as YouTube to assist me read
bedtime stories to my children. More publications, such as graphic novels, are being
written to assist youngsters and young adults maintain their attention in our
modern, technology-driven environment. While the increased use of technology and
the popularity of graphic novels are both positive trends, they are not without
drawbacks. Readers must be able to interpret and extrapolate the meaning of
graphic novels. They may be unable to understand what is happening in graphic
novels if they have not acquired reading comprehension. Some trends in children's

when technology is used in combination with reading. Students getting to hear
books read aloud to them is another benefit. For students who struggle with
reading, this is encouraging news. That makes it simpler for kids to listen to stories
and follow along. Yet, it can also be harmful since readers might simply rely on
someone reading to them, never making an effort to decipher the words on the
page for themselves. The popularity of graphic novels is another another trend that
has both beneficial and detrimental effects. Due to the fact that many students
choose such kind of reading, this may be advantageous. Students may choose from
a wider variety of subject matter, which promotes more engagement with the
subject matter. By utilizing a variety of cultural literature in the classroom, my
students will learn about not only their own culture but also the different
civilizations that are all around them. Children's literature gives them a way to gain
knowledge of their own and other cultures. It is crucial that kids comprehend these
ideas because having positive attitudes about our culture and the cultures of others
is important for both social and personal growth. In the framework, Leading Through
Innovative Practices is discussed. The development of technology in children's
books and with it may be used by teachers to accomplish this. Teachers are giving
their kids a range of tools to learn, investigate, and assist them develop critical
thinking by utilizing these technological innovations.
