In Andrea Dauber-Griffin’s article titled "Gender Equity: why is it important for corrections, gender equity, providing individuals the resources needed to be successful, should be provided to women in incarceration to improve their quality of life once released from the correctional system. Provding gender equity in the correctional system is an investment into a symbiotic society. The main point of incarceration is to correct inappropriate behavior, learn from your mistake, and re-enter society. As in the education system, each person’s specific behavior correction is different and will need to be handled accordingly. Injecting gender equity for women in incarceration makes the most sense as they are the backbone and foundations for most families. We know how incarceration systems currently work and understand where the systems should be; how can we get from point A to point B? Andrea Dauber-
Griffin’s conclusion wrapped up the article nicely while simultaneously made me think of ways to help solve the current issue. Women in the correctional system must receive the resources they need to be successful when returning to society to avoid returning to incarceration.
