Knowledge of Students – Response Sheet
Step 1
Section 1.1.1
Prompt A – The community factor I have chosen is that
only 84.5% of residents have obtained a
high school or higher education. The factor indicates that there could be a lack of resources and
support for parents to use to help their child complete homework. I have selected this factor
because if only 15.5% of the parents around that area do not have a well rounded education
and resources in order to support their child with their academic troubles. This means children
may not gain the help they need at home to correctly complete homework when they have
troubles. To address the needs of the students I will use guided instruction along with flipped
classrooms as learning activity at home or during class. These strategies and activity could be
applied in any subject matter. While students have already watched at home or in class and
review the resources of the subject matter, they will apply what they learned in class the next
day through worksheets where the teacher would guide them. This would allow students to work
at their own pace, where teachers would provide and focus on individualized help for each
student's needs. Doing this will minimize the struggles at home on completing homework and
also provide parents a chance to learn the material their children are learning and be involved in
the child's education, and have a chance to enhance their education along with the child.
Prompt B - The district factor I have chosen is that the average attendance is 86.84% in the
district. This factor is indicating that those students tha be missing school and opportunity of
learning they might be at risk of failing since they are missing a lot of information. A good
average attendance percentage should be around 95-100%. To address the needs of the
students I will use learning centers as the instructional and as the learning activity would be
hands-on learning. Have students working on different areas therefore other to practice on
something they are still struggling or catching up on their missing work while they were absent
as the educator would go around and provide individual assistance. Where students are going
to be able to work individually, with partners and problem solve.
Prompt C - The school factor I have chosen is that 36.72% of students are ELL’s. The factor is
telling us that there is a high percentage of students who are English learners that might be
struggling with the assignments. I would use the nonlinguistic representations instructional ither
to use sketches or pictographs. During a read aloud students will draw a sketch while the
teacher reads aloud, their for students can include imagery with the words/ story being read and
have a better connection and increase the understanding of the concept. When the students are
asked to summarize what happened in the story they can use their sketch to explain what and
why they had sketched the following items. Doing this will help students to have a better visual
and understanding of the reading and be able to discuss it using their visuals and make better
connections with it.
