Most standardized test do not measure emotional or mechanical intelligence, actually a lot of
educators argue that standardized test do not measure comprehension or actual intelligence but
rather memorization. While others may believe that standardized testing just needs a few
improvements, others believe that it is impossible to have a test that measures accurately the
capability of a diverse student population. Today's schooling depends heavily on the test scores from

approach is faulty because it is based upon the (false) presumption that the rules are understood and
built on a foundation well established prior to arriving at college." Students come to college with
bad habits developed in high school regarding their completing their schoolwork honestly. Also,
many already feel that cheating can be justified on a case–by–case basis, so honor codes do not
actually dissuade them from doing it. Also, I do not feel that it is the place of colleges to impose
moral standards on their students. For example, the students at Brigham Young University face
regulations on every part of their lives, from their academic work, to their personal appearance, to
their sexual expression. According to Stanley Fish in his work Save the World On Your Own Time,
this type of education is not the university's job, "the practices of responsible citizenship and moral
behavior should be encouraged in our young adults, but it's not the business of the university to do
so" (Fish 67). If honor codes tread into this territory, it serves the exact opposite of its intended
purpose. Honor codes made to protect the integrity of the university will actually undermine it when

writing experience than the one I had in the fall semester. During the fall semester I struggled deeply
with essays, making no higher than a C at times. I was a new incoming freshmen with no experience
in college once at all and by coming from a school that never really required me to write any type of
essays I was sure to have a rough start. Yet, this semester was different I felt more confident while
writing my papers. Argumentative type essays are actually pretty fun to write because you are able
to pick the topic of your choice and that really helps one feel like he actually knows what he is
talking about. I have written 4 argumentative type essays throughout the course and have noticed my
writing still needs work. Although I still have a long while to go I have developed a few strengthens
during the course. I am now good at working with syllogism in order to make a good enthymeme
thesis and now have good skills in providing evidence, but even though I have made process I still
need work in areas like avoid first person and backing up my claims all the way through.
Although, I have more weaknesses than strengths my effectiveness towards using a syllogism to
create an enthymeme thesis has really came a long way for me. It came in handy in my "More Than

are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to overcome
obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost any
venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face.
However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to
obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective.

I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year I
promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times, lack of
oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I set a goal
every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when I failed. By
my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team won the district
meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The transformation over the years
were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of becoming a faster runner was complete.
If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest
runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people that are now my closest friends. Having a
goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being physically or mentally, goals keep us active and
thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are
still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a
successful person is. Without it one couldn't use the characteristics mentioned above in more ways
than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe that their most basic abilities can be developed
through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point.

necessarily to attack or criticise someone. Arguments can also be a tool to underpin other people's

b) Invalid arguments
If an argument is invalid, then it is possible for a false conclusion even though all the premises are
true. It is logically possible for the premises to be true and the conclusion false.

Therefore, Johny Dep is an actor.
Now, if these premises are true, it does not follow that Johny Dep is an actor. It would follow if we
