TKAM Theme Essay
One theme in TKAM that is still present in today's society is how racism can split people apart. An
example of this theme is when the case and the kids are listening and jem hears that they are going
to kill him. After this happens Jem can't believe it and does not really talk about it again because it
was a really bad moment for Jem. "His face was streaked with angry tears as we made our way
through the cheerful crowd, it ain't right"(Lee 113). Jem witnesses this and realizes that it is wrong
and that based on the colour of their skin that they should not be treated differently. This relates to
the real world because it is all around. The very short time that president Donald Trump has been
our president he has made some very different decision. One of them happens to be a ban on
immigration because he does not want that certain race in america." A 90–day hold on admitting any
national from 7 major muslim countries"(vox.com) I think that this is sad because you should not
discriminate against this certain race of people.

A book example is when Scout wants to dress like a guy and Aunt A does not like that she is
dressing like a guy because she wants her to dress like a woman not a man."it would be many years
before I became interested in boys, I would never be interested in clothes"(Lee, 68). I think that this
is not right because that is how sout wants to dress and Aunt A should just accept it will not work
because it's hard to change how someone lives. The real world example is when Trump got elected
and there were unhappy people. "We live and work amongst his kind every day out here" (ew.com).
I believe that people don't like Trump because he is a wealthy man and they won't accept that Trump
is their president. And I think that we should just accept it they might not like him but that is ok you
don't have to like everyone but they should just accept

What Is The Theme Of Amigo Brothers
"Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light." ~Helen Keller. That
means that even though good things might happen it isn't worth it if you go through the good things
alone. In "Amigo Brothers" two best friends are in the championship together and have to fight each
other, whoever wins the fight wins it all. Both friends don't want to hurt the other and want them to
do good but, at the same time, they want to do good themselves. In the end, after the fight, they
decide to leave and not figure out who wins because they are both winners in each other's eyes.
"Amigo Brothers" would be the best short story for a middle school students because it teaches how
important friendship is and it shows that you have to figure

However, that is wrong because the story "Charles" shows support to inappropriate behavior and it
shows that people will allow bad behavior in life. In the text, it says "'He told a little girl to say a
word and she said it and the teacher washed her mouth out with soup and Charles laughed."' This is
just one example of what the kid Charles did, yet nothing happened to him. In the text, it states
"'What happened to Charles?", my husband asked. "Nothing," Laurie said."' This means that nothing
absolutely nothing happens to Charles even though he did all of those horrible things. It is teaching
kids that there aren't consequences. It is telling kids that nothing bad will happen to you even if you
do bad things. That is something that you shouldn't be learning in middle school because that is
when most kids start to act out to get attention or for many other reasons. In middle school, there is
close to 85% of bullying according to DHHS. People bully others because they have been bullied
and because they can get away with it. When they bully the kids they know that they won't be in that
much trouble. That is why the story "Charles" is not the best short story for middle schoolers to

Simple Recipes Essay
Madeleine Thien's "Simple Recipes" is a short story that depicts an immigrated family facing
problems of cultural preservation; "Hills like White Elephants" by Ernest Hemingway portrays a
couple facing difficulties in decision–making about their unplanned pregnancy. Despite the
difference in plots and themes respectively, both stories discuss about relationships are being put at
stake as a result of different factors emerge in the plot. In the two stories, competing values,
problems with communication and lack of understanding between two people emerge as elements
that can ruin a relationship. Therefore, the two stories reveal that selfishness is the initial and
eventual cause for broken relationships.

The Most Memorable Place Of The World
The United States Navy often takes me to various and unique locations of the world. I've sailed
throughout the Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean, and Pacific Ocean.
I've stepped foot in Rome, the Middle East, various tropical islands, and my favorite region –
Southeast Asia. To be more specific, one of the most memorable places I've visited was when my
third ship hit port in Thailand. During one such occasion, I was wandering the streets of Pattaya late
at night with my friends. We noticed there was a crowd congregating around a rickety boxing ring in
the middle of a bar. Around the ring, there were bets being placed. In the old wooden seats, there
were men drinking beer and women drinking martinis. Scanty

This was not a move of cowardice, as I could tell neither of the fighters was intimidated by the
other. They had trained for most of their young lives and they were not afraid of anything or anyone.
To them this was just another fight. After they were done figuring each other out, the fight quickly
picked up the pace. The fighters came forward and threw punches and kicks to each other's head and
body. Both kids were putting on a good show and I could tell they were fighting for real. Even
though they were giving it their all, I could sense they loved fighting and there was no place they
would rather be. In each of the corners of the ring, the boys' team of trainers and family members
was screaming instructions and words of encouragement. The crowd had also begun to cheer and
chant, excited by the back–and–forth volley of fists and feet. Even the people across the street
started to gain interest and watched from the sidewalk. The Muay Thai match continued like this,
each kid getting their hits in and even getting knocked down onto the floor. Each round lasted
approximately two minutes, with five rounds total. During the breaks in between rounds, the fighters
sipped their water and received coaching from their team. In my eyes every round seemed to be the
same, although that could be the alcohol in my system at the time that made everything blurry. At
the end of the final round, the referee gathered all the scores and brought the two boys

Themes Of Amigo Brothers
In the story, Amigo Brothers, shows how two friends can go through something like a fight and still
be the best of friends. In the story Antonio and Felix have been lifelong best friends and both enjoy
boxing. They are two of the best boxers in their club and only one of them can go participate in the
Golden Glove tournament. To settle who goes they are told that they are to face each other. The two
best friends continue on training with each other until they one of them decided that it is best for
them to split until after the fight so nothing would happen to their friendship. Both of them agreed
not to hold back on the fight so it would be a fair match. They both had their own ways of mentally

After Antonio and Felix split up they both had very interesting ways of dealing with their separation
and preparing for their fight. "The flick was The Champion with Kirk Douglas, the third time Felix
was seeing it
....
Felix became the champ and Antonio the challenger."(Thomas) Felix was picturing
the fight as a movie instead of two friends going against each other. When doing this he became
prepared for the fight without worry. Antonio also had a way of dealing with the separation.
"Antonio was passing some heavy time on his rooftop. How would the fight tomorrow affect his
relationship with Felix? After all, fighting was like any other profession. Friendship had nothing to
do with it."(Thomas) It proves how Antonio is willing to put their friendship aside, so they can have
a fair fight. Antonio wants to stay friends with Felix so, he pretends not to be friends with him
during the fight. In the end of the story the Amigo brothers are going through their final hours before
their fight and are still friendly to one another. For example in the story it says, "Antonio thought he
caught a glimpse of Felix waving to him from a room at the far end of the corridor. He waved back
just in case it had been him."(Thomas 10) This shows how even though they were to fight each other
in just a few minutes they were still friendly with each other. The final example

Sample Theme Essay on "Amigo Brothers"
SAMPLE ESSAY ON THEME "The Amigo Brothers," written by Piri Thomas, is a story about a
special friendship between two boys. Antonio and Felix, two seventeen year old boys, have grown
up together and are very close to one another. They do almost everything together. They both dream
of a future in which they will be the lightweight champions of the world, and together they help
each other train regularly. Then a time comes when their friendship is threatened because for the
first time ever, they have to compete against one another in a match. In the end, however, their
relationship survives because both boys value their friendship above their ambitions. Through the
words, thoughts, and actions of Antonio and Felix, the author expresses the

Felix, too, tries to block out his thoughts and feelings about Antonio, but while he is sitting in a
movie theater, his thoughts are so much with Antonio that he keeps imagining Antonio's face on the
movie screen while he, Felix, is punching him out. Both boys are unable to stop thinking about
protecting the other because their relationship is so important to them. Here, again Piri uses the boys
to testify to the value of friendship. Finally, the story's theme is relayed through the final actions of
the boys. During the fight, both are focused on winning the match. Each attacks the other with full
force. The fight becomes so violent that the referee has to pull them apart. After cold water is poured
on both of them, they start to come back to reality. When they realize what has happened to them,
they rush toward each other and hug. Afterwards, the bell rings to announce the winner of the fight,
but when the announcer looks around to identify the victor, no one is there. The boys leave the ring
"arm in arm." The reason they leave is that they realize that winning is not what is most important to
them. What they really care about is their friendship. Piri finalizes his theme through the ultimate
actions of the boys. In conclusion, the boys' choice to leave

Annabel Lee Essay
A great poem shocks us into another order of perception. It points beyond language to something
still more essential. It ushers us into an experience so moving and true that we feel at ease. In bad or
indifferent poetry, words are all there is. Edgar Allan Poe's poem "Annabel Lee" is a great poem, not
because it is popular or it is classic, but because of its underlining message. "Annabel Lee" is a
poem of death, love, and beauty. It captures the narrator's interpretation of these three ideas through
his feelings and thoughts for one woman. The narrator, Edgar Allan Poe
, becomes infatuated at a
young age with the character in the poem, Annabel Lee. Even after she passes away, his love for her
only increases and only becomes

It is even crazier when one can love that special person even more, after they pass away.
Nonetheless, that is not what it is called true love. The truest love of all is the one that remains the
same by death, the one that is left unchanged. The narrator devoted his whole life to his woman,
even in death. That is true love, when it is certain that there is love and it is a realization that both
lovers could never live without each other. This goes hand in hand with the narrator, as he finds it
difficult and almost impossible to part with the love of his life. He believes that without her, he finds
no purpose in life. She does pass away, but that doesn't stop him from being with her one bit. Death
is the ultimate barrier, in this poem.
Annabel Lee's presence is kept alive in his mind through his dreams at night. "For the moon never
beams, without bringing me dreams of the beautiful Annabel Lee" (Poe 34–35). Her eyes are seen
by his eyes, every night; her love is seen by his love, as without that, night never comes. "And the
stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes of the beautiful Annabel Lee" (Poe 36–37). For the narrator,
nature revolves around this grand feeling that the two lovers share. This goes to show that even
nature cannot affect their romance; nothing could, not even death could keep them apart. The
romance was not lost at sea and forgotten in the darkness of

Relationship Between Antonio And Bassanio
In William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice, there have been two main interpretations of the
relationship between Antonio and Bassanio. Some have speculated that the relationship between the
two men is homosexual, while others believe that the relationship is purely a male friendship. This
conflicting opinion is depicted through the 1973 film production directed by John Sichel and the
2004 film production directed by Michael Radford. The 1973 film portrays a male friendship,
whereas the 2004 film depicts a homosexual relationship. These contrasting perceptions of Antonio
and Bassanio are emphasized by the actions of other characters, as well as other factors. There are
four main scenes where Antonio and Bassanio are seen together. The

Antonio joins Bassanio on the bed. As Bassanio describes Portia
, the camera switches to her in a
dreamlike manner, with music playing in the background. Upon hearing this news, Antonio looks
down–hearted and gets up from the bed. Regardless, Antonio somewhat reluctantly gives Bassanio
permission to use his credit. With a grim smile, Lorenzo kisses Antonio on the lips. Once the kiss is
finished, Antonio stares at Bassanio, in despair. The opening scene of the play present a stark
contrast between the films and the relationship between Antonio and Bassanio. The contrast between
the two films is instantly noticeable through Antonio's deliverance of the first lines of the play:
In sooth I know why I am so sad.
It wearies me, you say it wearies you,
But how I caught it, found it, or came by it,
What stuff 'tis made of, whereof it is born,
I am to learn;
And such a want–wit sadness makes of me
That I have much ado to know myself (1.1. 1–7).
These lines instantly distinguish the tone of the two films, as well as the interpretations of Antonio's
character. In the 1973 film, Antonio says these lines in a jokingly manner, undisturbed by his
unknown sadness. On the other hand, the Antonio in the 2004 film, relays this line in a grim and
melancholy way. In accordance to the melancholy 2004 Antonio, these lines have a significant
underlying meaning. Lines such as "I am to learn" gives Antonio the ability to "pass off his
depression as anxiety" (Barthelemy, 134).

Theme Essay Don't judge a book by it's cover. This theme shows up all over the story "The Girl who
was Born with only Two Arms and Two Legs" By Stuart Baum. People where they live have four
arms and four legs. Judging happens in many ways. In this story it happens in two ways. First off,
one judgeful way, in this book is looks. Secondly, another ways is acts and what happens. One
appropriate reason, of judging, is disformity. For example, Quarta is deformed because she has two
arms and two legs. In the story people call her a freak and barely anyone hangs out with her. This is
significant because it shows people judging her by deformity and looks. Another person being
judged is Shay. Shay has only two good working arms. Many people

The Odd Couple
The play The Odd Couple began on a summer night in Oscar Madison's apartment. It is one of eight
large room affairs on Riverside Drive in New Jersey. The building is 35 years old with high ceilings,
walk in closets and thick walls. There is a living room with doors that go into the kitchen, a
bedroom, a bathroom, and a hallway that leads to other bedrooms. There is no proof of women in
the apartment for months. There are dirty dishes, old clothes and newspapers, empty bottles, glasses
filled and unfilled, laundry, and mail. The furniture is nicely picked out but it it is placed
unorganized in the apartment. The setting is important because that's where's the play is taken place
and where Oscar and Felix will live together. Inside the apartment are 6 men play poker; Murray,
Roy, Speed, Oscar, Vinnie, Oscar, and Felix. Oscar Madison is the protagonist. He is a forty three

The author expressed this theme because in the end of the phone call with Oscar and his ex wife

might have irritated Oscar, in the end it was for a good reason. Also, in the beginning of the book
Oscar knew Felix was in need of a home and good place to stay and Oscar took him in very quickly.
Even though their ups and downs by the end of the play they were friends again. Therefore I think
the author conveys the theme of friends will always be there for each other, through thick and thin,
and friends do things for the better of the other

Macbeth Theme Essay
The play, Macbeth, Macbeth and his wife kill the king of Scotland so Macbeth can become king. As
a result, of the witches since they told him about the prophecy and how he would become king. He
eventually does more evil things which fills Lady Macbeth with guilt. She ends up killing herself
and Macbeth ends up dying. In the play, there are numerous of themes that you can see and
examples that you can find. There are five themes that we have discussed in class which are
ambition, guilt, things are not what they seem, fate versus free will, and nature versus the unnatural.
One of the five themes in Macbeth that we discussed is ambition. I believe the meaning of ambition
is the desire to do something whether it is bad or good. In addition, I

The killing of his family is his motivation for him to kill Macbeth because he wants to get revenge.
Furthermore, ambition is desire of doing something that is good or bad like revenge. Also, when
Malcolm heard what happened to Macduff's family and how Scotland has become after being ruled
by Macbeth, it made him want to kill Macbeth.
Another theme in Macbeth is guilt. I believe that guilt is feeling bad for something that you have
done to someone or something. In addition, guilt can destroy you and/or eat at you. It could even
drive you to do something like it did to Macduff. Macduff went to England and left his family
behind so that he could get Malcolm to come back and be king. When he left to get Malcolm,
Macbeth killed his entire family. He felt guilty for living his family alone in Scotland without
protection. Similarly to ambition, his guilt drove him to kill Macbeth. Another example of guilt is
Lady Macbeth sleeping walking towards the end of the play. Lady Macbeth and Macbeth killed the
king of Scotland (Duncan) and she is feeling guilty for what she has done. Also, she doesn't like
what her husband has done like killing Macduff's whole family. She feels as if she was responsible
for that. In a result of that she ends up sleep walking and eventually killing herself because she
couldn't live with the guilt anymore. The guilt of killing Duncan literally ate at Lady Macbeth and
destroyed her to the point of suicide. Macbeth feels guilty for killing Duncan.

Descriptive Essay About Spring
Spring is such a wonderful and joyful season. The air begins to warm, and the temperature rises
slowly. Not only that, but the days seem to be getting longer as well. As the snow begins to melt in
northern America, the lovely flowers begin to bud and the flies begin to come out. The tree buds
starts greening and preparing itself to grow. The air smells different as opposed to winter
, it smells
fresh and alive. Spring wraps up winter, and leads on to the hot and humid season called summer.
Spring is the season that prepares itself for the next season, as forestry is starting to grow and thrive.
The animal kingdom also uses spring to mate. The bears that were hibernating no longer have to
hibernate. The smell of freshly cut grass also goes through the warm spring air.
The grouchy people of winter also start to become happy again. Most people dislike winter as it cold
and the driving condition are not great. However in spring, everything is having life, or coming back
to life; as well as their spirits. Spring is finally the time where people can finally eat outside, open
up the window to let fresh air in. Nothing is better than seeing the neon green trees and grass shining
through the low amounts of snow that might still be left behind by Mother Nature. The farming
trade also begins in spring; the farmers begin to plant their vegetables so they can harvest them
when the time is right. Spring also has a very nice holiday, Easter. Families gather at each other's
houses and

In The Color Purple, there were several themes such as Violence, Sexuality, Power, God or
Spiritually. Power is a key role in this novel. Walker focuses throughout the novel that the ability to
express someone's thoughts and feelings is critical to developing a sense of self. Initially, Celie is

British feel that, because they are growing the land, they "own" it, and the African people who have
lived there for centuries and decades are only backward natives. It is only at the very end of the
novel
, after Samuel, Nettie, and their family have returned from Africa, to Celie's home in Georgia,
that Celie and Nettie's entire family is able to come together and put together a small gift, and
something that would be considered completely normal for some of the white families of that time
period, whose lives had not been ripped apart or taken way by the legacy of slavery and poverty.
Violence and sufferings another theme in The Color Purple. They are typically show as part of a
greater cycle of tragedy taking place both on the family level and on a general social scale. Celie is
raped by her stepfather and beaten for many years by her husband, only to have Shug Avery come

Cycle Of Life Essay Examples
Cycle of Life Essay The cycle of life is a series of changes in a living organism that will eventually
be replaced by a new organism. This new organism will then go through the same changes as the
one before it. The cycle of life theme is incorporated into many stories throughout history although
the exact role the theme plays in each story can vary. One of the ways it can be seen is through the
use of concrete examples, meaning someone is born and dies. Abstract examples are another way
the cycle of life can be shown in stories. Abstract examples would include such things as the sun
rising and setting which gives the reader a visual of time lapse. "Lightning Crashes", "The Lion
King", and "Indian Camp" all share the same theme of the

Disney also uses examples of concrete life when Simba is presented to all the animals in the pride
land as the newborn prince. This is important to the cycle of life because there always is an end and
beginning to everyone's life. Along with "The Lion King", "Indian Camp" shares all four elements
of the cycle of life. In "Indian Camp" by Ernest Hemingway, the theme of the cycle of life is
evident. Hemingway displays this theme by utilizing both abstract and concrete examples of life and
death. For an example, Hemingway uses light and dark in contrast to life and death. When Nick and
his father see "in the shanty nearest the road there was a light in the window", it shows there is life
in the shanty. However, when "the young indian stopped and blew out his lantern", the dark
represents a death about to occur in the shanty they enter (1).This is important because if it did not
happen in the story, the reader would not be able to foreshadow a life beginning or ending. He
further conveys the theme of cycle of life by using the following as concrete examples of life and
death. In the story, "his father picked up the baby and slapped it to make it breathe" (2). Afterwards,
when they went to tell the father, "his throat had been cut from ear to ear" (3). Hemingway uses both
light and dark and life and death in order to display the theme of the cycle of life. The theme of
cycle of life is

organisation 2. Identify core themes: looks at each response, and identify groups of comments that

plantations I have

Sometimes, though, it is actually me who gets the machete blow and wakes up shaking. He wants to
cut me and bleed me out. I try to see who is striking me, but my fear hides the face of the man who
wishes me harm. I do not know if he is Hutu or Tutsi, a neighbor or an inkotanyi. I would like to
know if he is a victim, to ask pardon of his family and hope for peace of mind that way, but the
sleeping man refuses. My wife said that I would have a drunkard's regrets, that I drank so much and
killed so much that I would never know either who or how many they were. Me, it is first of all that
man I would like to know about. He's the one to whom I must propose an offer of peace. That dream
torments me–but not often. On the contrary, it's mostly this wretched prison life that cuts into my
sleep. I believe we are all the same at night. Our own misfortunes take over our nightmares more
easily than the misfortunes of others. Our sufferings as prisoners push other people's hardships out
of the way, both day and night, I see no mystery in that. I think my sleep will recover a normal
restfulness when I regain my liberty and the life I used to

Examples Of Thematic Analysis
In this research, thematic analysis s used to analyze the interpretive ethnographic data, which,
according to Braun and Clarke (2006,p,79) is:'a method for identifying, analyzing and reporting
patterns within data.' Thus, thematic analysis uncovers themes in a text and constructs a web–like
network to facilitate the structuring and interpretation of there themes. Braun and Clarke (ibid.)
explained, the thematic data analysis process consists of six phases: (i) become familiar with the
data; (ii) generating initial codes; (iii) searching for themes; (iv) reviewing themes; (v) defining and
naming themes; and (vi) producing the report. The reason for using thematic analysis first,is based
upon Braun and Clarke (2006) it is a useful research tool,

According to M Finn, Elliott–White, M Walton (2000, 67–90). 'The word 'ethnography' means a
description of people or their culture'Ethnography is the study of social interactions, behaviors, and
perceptions that occur within groups, teams, organizations, and communities. Taft (1988, p. 59 )
explains, ethnographic research consists essentially of a description of events that occur within the
life of a group, with special regard to social structures and the behavior of the individuals with
respect to their group membership, and an interpretation of the meaning of these for the culture of
the group. Ethnography is associated with the different ways of observing perceiving and
understanding the process in worldly manner.Selecting and applying rules for the 'world view'in
order to defining and giving meaning to situations in which they find themselves for justifying their
actions. This ethnography is used both to record primary data and to interpret its meaning. (1988:59)
Goetz and Le Compte, supported (1984:3), Hence, ethnographic research is about human groups.

Gothic Theme Essay examples
Conflict within One' Self Personal internal battles exist every day whether it is mentally,
emotionally, spiritually or even physically. Within each person, typical temptations dwell deep
inside. Some of these temptations can be very active or remain dormant until precise events trigger
them. The intricacy of a person's inner struggle fights between a moral and corrupt side. Naturally,
undesirable temptations ascend from the lower qualities of people and bare individuals to develop
even more immoral ambitions. Overtime, those temptations could worsen and became more severe,
in which the person develops a lack of self–control with major inflictions and regrets. A clash
between good and evil, hero and tyrant is a basic foundation to

Stevenson makes clarification with giving the dark evil character as an alternative personality of Dr.
Jekyll which is Mr. Hyde. Stevenson begins to peruse the case of a respected doctor who becomes
associated with Mr. Hyde. The unusual, mysterious circumstance is the fact that the two men is the
same person. "The doctor experiments in his own laboratory trying to divide effort to improve the
quality his own life" (Hedlund). The reading explains the struggles and mental state of Dr. Jekyll.
Hence, although I had now two characters as well as two appearances, one was wholly evil, and the
other was still old Henry Jekyll, the incongruous compound of whose reformation and improvement
I had already learned to despair. The movement was thus wholly toward the worse (Stevenson 102).
Stevenson creates a revelation of stimulating themes. The writer cleverly creates a feeling of
suspense, unknown, and mystery. Mr. Hyde in the opening of Mr. Enfield's accounts, there is the
eerie, catastrophic scene of the trampling of a young girl in the middle of the night. This is the first
encounter of where the gothic element of a distress woman or a woman threatened by a powerful
tyrannical male, is first installed to the reader. After the trampling, Mr. Hyde is told to pay money to
the family. Out of nowhere, a check is signed by a very gallant, up standing citizen. Eventually, the
check is revealed to belonging to Dr. Jekyll, and also come to acquire that Dr.
