Mine Descriptive Writing
It is mine. The golden sun that shines and kisses the tops of my shoulders. The wisps of white clouds
traveling within a baby blue sky. The gentle breeze that coils itself around my arms providing relief
from the warming sun. The sapphire sea and its serene waves rolling gently out to shore onto the
finely grained sand. It is all mine.
It is mine. Even the darkened sky when the sun cannot be seen. Even the blackened clouds that
blanket the sky. Even the blistering winds that pierce my skin with frozen shards. Even the dusky
sea and its roaring waves crashing against jagged–edged boulders, creating a thick coat of foam as
white as seagulls' feathers. It is all mine.
It is the sea. And all of it mine. I wear a single drop of the sapphire sea encased within a small,
marquise–shaped stone. I wear the foam from roaring waves gathered up into two rounded
diamonds. I wear the finely grained, yellow–gold sand that surrounds it all, and lifts everything up
in a cathedral mount. I wear my ring. Even now, it gingerly hugs my finger.
But it's not truly mine. The sea can never belong to me. And the ring doesn't belong to me. And the
ring no longer represents the love and bond between two people. And the ring has no purpose other
than to exist. Or at least that is what I tell myself. But I feel my gut twisting, my head pounding, and
my heart beat quickening, and I know that what I tell myself is wrong.
At least one day of every year, for the past couple of years, I've seemed to

Descriptive Writing Essay
The Class Everyone Dreads "Is EN100 a useful class to take?," this was a question I got asked by a
junior at my school. They were looking for classes to take next year; I told them that it was an
abundant amount of writing, but it was a great class to take. I went on to explain to them, that taking
it in high school would be easier and cheaper than in college. Beginning to explain to them that it
helped me grow as a writer and helped improve my English vocabulary, I realized it helped a whole
lot. Throughout the first semester of school, we had to write essays over four different topics. These
included informative, observation, reflection, and descriptive essays. I told them about my
experiences while writing with these certain types of essays. This is what I said: The first essay we
wrote was the descriptive writing style. I wrote an essay called, "Burger King's Crusty Castle". In
this essay, I wrote about the filth inside of the restaurant. Throughout this essay I got better with
describing every little detail in the story. I started off by saying, "The tea urns (used to keep all of
the freshly made tea in) smell like something had crawled in them and died" ("Burger King's Crusty
Castle"1). I eventually changed it to say, "The tea urns (used to keep all of the freshly made tea in)
smell like a skunk that has just been ran over" ("Burger King's Crusty Castle"11). I added detail to
the sentence to make it sound more fluent and to make you feel as if you could smell it. It

The mark given for each of the examples provided is supported by comments related to the criteria
given in the specification for (i) Content & Organisation; (ii) Sentence Structure, Punctuation &
Spelling. A notional grade is indicated in each case, based on the way that the same mark scale for
Writing has been used in the past, and consistent with the uniform mark scale which will be used in
the future to report results. However, it is important to note that in practice grade boundaries are
determined when units are awarded, and that prior to this individual students' marks are subject

"I can't believe you," she cries, hurls her last insult, and storms away, quickly followed by a small
group of girls. They spend the rest of the evening throwing dirty looks at the boys, none of whom
seem to care. Spinning faster and faster, the waltzer's occupants scream hysterically. "The louder
you scream, the faster we go," an impersonal voice claims on the intercom. As the ride explodes
with noise, the operator yawns and throws a lever. Outside his soundproof hut the ride accelerates,
then, climax over, it slows and stops. The controller stumbles out of the box and lets the flushed
people off of the ride. Some go straight to the back of the queue, others teeter off, stumbling over
their own feet. Gritting his teeth, a man in the car park presses the accelerator to the floor, but to no
avail. The grass is unrecognisable under all of the mud that has been churned up by the cars that
have been coming and going all day. His face reddens as the wheels spin, spraying mud on to a
shiny red Ferrari that someone was unsuspecting enough to bring. People are pointing and laughing
and the owner of the Ferrari is shouting. Finally, someone is helpful enough to push him on his way
and he leaves at top speed, without even bothering to say thank you. On the rollercoaster, a young
girl screams, while her older brother looks almost ready to fall asleep. Her best friend in the seat
behind is looking slightly green and is very much ready to go home. The little girl whoops even

Descriptive Essay
There's no one to talk to... I hate this place. The smell, the silence, the way that time hangs in the air
catalyses my irritation. I scream yet no one hears. I question but no one answers. I'm just waiting for
the day I die and no one finds me. I guess I won't be there to enjoy that.
Chester, the cat, ambles his way through the hallway. I can hear the scratching of his paws on the
front of the mahogany door which stands imposingly like a body guard. The cold winter chill
swivels in the air, mocking and taunting me with its icy fangs. Night is approaching. I can sense that
it is going to be one of those nights where the clouds hang oppressively low, shrouding the moon
beneath their black drapes. However I know that every now and then she would emerge in full
beauty, casting light over this gothic castle. Chester continues to scratch at the door; his behaviour
has become increasingly agitated over the past few weeks. I guess I'm not the only one here which
the silence is driving increasingly insane.
The old earthen tiles tessellate in endless uniformity throughout the hallway in a black white
fashion. The chandeliers hang from the ceiling; each piece of glassware hangs like a dagger on the
piece of a fragile thread, waiting to fall on the unfortunate victim. As I stare at the swaying knives,
daring one to fall, sudden toll of a distant bell reverberates through the hallway, sending a
shockwave that ripples through me. I need to escape. These cold, lifeless tiles hurt me feet as I begin
to run with increasing frustration. My hands begin to clench, as my heart beats harder and louder.
All of a sudden however I stop. The golden handle of the front door stands ajar, tempting me to open
it to unlock the realms of the open world. However, just as I touch the knob, my hands freeze in fear.
What if I get caught? I'm not allowed to go outside in the dark. I don't want to get in trouble. Biting
on my nails as the sweat begins to drop from my face, I decide to leave.
Just as I leave Chester scurries his way through the marginally open door, following me with tireless
diligence. The warmth of the mud between my toes instantly pervades my spirit as I walk through
the lush green country side. The twilight sky sparkles,

How to Write a Descriptive Essay
More than many other types of essays, descriptive essays strive to create a deeply involved and
vivid experience for the reader. Great descriptive essays achieve this affect not through facts and
statistics but by using detailed observations and descriptions.
What do you want to describe?
As you get started on your descriptive essay, it's important for you to identify exactly what you want
to describe. Often, a descriptive essay will focus on portraying one of the following: a person a
place a memory an experience an object
Ultimately, whatever you can perceive or experience can be the focus of your descriptive writing
.
Why are you writing your descriptive essay?

Descriptive Essay On An Island
The first thing that hit me was the sound. The sounds of birds, the sound of the sea crawling onto the
sand. I felt million grains of sand underneath my feet and the cool breeze against my face.
Moreover, the tantalizing scent of the washed–up waves, coconut, and pineapple are all mixed into
one. As I opened my eyes, I was amazed by how easily fantasy and reality intertwined at that
moment. It was like continuing a dream after waking up. So I dragged myself up and turn my head
to the east. While the sky in the opposite direction was still dark, the dawn on the east side already
broke. A mixture of yellow and orange on the horizon beneath a dark neon blue ocean of night had
begun to peek out. As the sun continuously rose, all of the purple and deep blue faded away, and the
sun took its mighty position at the top of the sky, shining so very blindingly beautiful.
After I watched the sunrise, my mood lifted. Notwithstanding, I still feel threatened for I got trapped
on an island. I stood there for a moment and tried to figure out how I got to this island. A series of
quick flashback of a shipwreck, and a big storm. Consequently, I have a severe headache, so I
decided to sit down in the sand
. While sitting down, I observe the island and find that I was
surrounded by water and some other islands. The water around the island was as clear as crystal, to
the point I can see the depths of the sea. Again, I dragged myself up and turn to the back; it seemed
like a tropical paradise. There were multitudes of greenery, lush foliage that looked like they were
painted on.
I walk deeper into the island. Nowhere, the sound of the birds started to raise up. It brought freedom
and happiness to the mind. Beautiful flowers in reds, yellows, purples, and pinks lounged happily
along the banks of small streams. Following the streams, it allowed me to hear the playful sound of
the water lapping on the rocks, and the sound of leaves rustling when the wind blew gently, bringing
with it a feeling of peace and tranquility. Continuing through the trees, my stomach started growling
like a monster who is ready to eat its prey. Accordingly, the smell of fruits suddenly arises on my left
side so I made my way toward the fruity smell,

Descriptive Essay About Myself
I find it extremely tough to talk about myself and my personal traits. In order for me to dIscuss who
I am in an accurate manner then I must provide some basic background information on myself and
talk about the Environment I grew up in. This way people can get a better understanding of why I
am the way I am. My Background is so essential In making me myself because If I had been born
under any different circumstances or grew up any differently I would be a different person than I am
today. I was born in Aberdeen Scotland but raised in Fort Bend County Texas. Aberdeen and Fort
Bend both have great opportunities but differ in many ways. One way in which they differ is that

collaborate and communicate with people who think differently than us then work together to figure
out whose ideas will work the best and how to improve them.
Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic
circumstances. I have always had access to anything I needed and for that I have extreme gratitude
because I know some people have a lot of difficulty in life. Since I was born into a family with such
good economic circumstances I have been lucky to have lots of opportunities. One Opportunity I
had as a child was participating in taekwondo. I did taekwondo until I reached a blackbelt which
took years of hardwork and dedication. I had to memorize forms, Spar with other competitors and
break boards in order to continue to move up to the next level. Taekwondo also helped keep me in
good shape and fit when I was younger. Another Opportunity I am grateful for is the skill of playing
the piano. At first I was not all that enthusiastic about playing it but my parents has signed me up

they reach the charcoal shingles of the rooftop. Two enormous windows are on the front of the
house, with fine, white curtains that can be seen hanging from them on the other side. On the left
side of a house there is a large chimney, which gives the house a traditional look with it's brown and

surrounded by many bushes, and flowers; trimmed perfectly. This house is well kept, and it stands

Descriptive Essay Of A Restaurant
Once I stepped inside the restaurant I automatically could hear the music playing at a moderate level
and the laughter of the customers. Right off the back the restaurant's ambiance had a positive vibe.
Mindful, it was a Saturday late afternoon. Mary Jane Burger and Brew is a local restaurant trying to
stay true to its past. The granddaughter of the original owner now runs the place with the intention
of serving good quality food where the ingredients are fresh, mouth watering, and surely not filled
with antibiotics and all that other genetically modified elements found in processed foods. The
vintage, rustic looking place, holds a small town atmosphere with a big taste
.
The host sat my sister and I at a table in the middle of the dining area. A giant window let sunlight
flood into the room and the speakers provided a good backdrop of music to help engage
conversation. The restaurant itself seems fairly modern: leather seating, dark wood tables, and
mason jar for glasses. It is the epitome of a hang out spot for any teen, millennial, or elder meetup.
The staff caters to the needs of the customers and are always ready to help out in any way possible. I
started the meal off with a glass of sweet tea that never made it lower then the halfway point. The
waitress was always there with a pitcher of their home brewed sweet tea. The tea itself was not too
sweet, it had the subtle taste of the bitterness that tea should have. In other words it did not taste like

An Example of Descriptive Essay
Descriptive Essay
1) Definition:
Descriptive essay is one of the many types of writing styles that provides a detailed description for a
particular person, place, memory, experience or object. Descriptive essay is purposely created so
readers can readily imagine its particular subject matter. It focuses on the five senses which are
sight, smell
, touch, sound and taste.
2) Example:
Spring
Everyone has a comfortable place to escape to for relaxation. They go there when they need to be
alone, away from people's disturbane. My best place is nature in spring, the king of seasons as
people call it. The spring time relaxes me like no exact place could do. I really enjoy the charming
beauty of nature in this beautiful season.

In fact, nature appears in its best form. It provides us with all kinds of pleasure.
Other things that I also love about spring are those smells that are widespread in nature. The air is
fresh and full of pleasant aromas of different flowers. When I am walking in the fields or any other
place during spring time, my noses catch a mixture of smells that really increases my strong love for
nature.
I will now say I am absolutely calm when I am listening, feeling, smelling, and looking at the spring
around me. Spring is my favourite season, and nature when it is spring is relaxing and comfortable.
The earth wears a green dress. Again it comes to life.

Descriptive Essay About My Family
My Cozy Home A home is a place where you have lived with your family for so long that it has, in a
sense, become a part of you. It can be a structure, a neighborhood, a state or a country. In my case,
when I think of home, I initially think of a building, my house. My home, however, is much more
than just a house to me. It is also the place where I am always sure to find those I love most, my
family. In a generation where there are so many broken homes, I am fortunate to live with and be
raised by two parents, who still love each other. I have two older sisters, Sabreena and Trinity, and a
dog, a poodle named Puffs. I live in a quaint, four bedroom house in a subdivision called
Steeplechase in Avondale, Louisiana. My house is a place of safety and refuge. My neighborhood is
full of friendly, familiar faces. I have been smiling, waiving and occasionally talking to these friends
and acquaintances since we moved here when I was just two years old. Growing up in this
environment has, I'm sure, contributed to certain character and personality traits, which have made
me who I am today. I am ultimately a trusting individual, who is both friendly and hospitable. You
can learn much about a person simply by walking through their home. For example, if you walk
through my house, you would instantly notice framed Bible verses, decorative crosses, inspirational
sayings and a trophy case, filled with different types of past accomplishments. In our living room,
there is a

The Importance Of Descriptive Writing
The use of descriptive writing is often found in works of fiction, giving the reader the opportunity to
visualize the world that the author wants them to see. Descriptive writing becomes much more
valuable, however, when it is used in non–fiction works that may be used to survive. The ability to
precisely describe plants, animals, and the environment can be the difference between life and death.
This was indeed the case with the journals of the early explorers Meriwether Lewis
, William Clark
,
and other party members as they explored North America in the early 1800s. The accounts produced
by members of the expedition party, both written and drawn, would eventually lead to the expansion
of the United States by providing accurate and

The men on this journey were all healthy young men excited about a paid adventure. One must
consider the exertion the expedition party faced and be able to compare the party's progress against
one's own ability. If the men grew tired over a stretch of land, then the later traveler must be aware
of their own capability and accept their limitations when considering the explorer's timeframe and
the amount of ground covered.
After an accident with a canoe, which occurred on the 6th of August 1805, had left Whitehouse and
Clark injured Lewis wrote, "Whitehouse is in much pain this evening with the injury one of his legs
sustained from the canoe today at the time it upset and swing over him. Capt Clarks ankle is also
very painfull [sic] to him. We should have given the party a days [sic] rest some where [sic] near this
place". Since the injuries occurred, the party continued to walk for at least 10 miles before setting up
camp. This was an impressive venture, considering Whitehouse could have died had the water been
any shallower. The men's ability to continue their journey despite injuries was remarkable and not
easily replicated. A later traveler should recognize this feat and should not compare himself to the
accomplishment of the expedition party. Lewis had even wanted to stop the party to give the injured
men at least a day's rest, but they persevered. Also, the fact that members of the party were injured,
was not necessary to include. It would

Narrative vs. Descriptive Writing
A narrative essay uses a point of view to tell a story. It is an engaging way for an author to tell his
reader about an experience they have had or a personal story. Descriptive writing is a description of
something. It could be a person, place, thing, emotion or experience. The author is allowed more
artistic freedom when writing in descriptive form. While both descriptive and narrative essays are
similar in many ways, the descriptive essays use of language fully immerses the reader into the story
and allows the reader to feel the intended emotion
. Descriptive writing is painting a vivid image.

It is very important for a narrative essay to follow a sequence of events. In the narrative essay This
Old House, the author followed a clear chronological order. Sedaris told a story that included all of
the typical components such as an introduction, and worked its way through all of the events,
introducing you to the characters and setting the stage along the way. Our book explains "As you
learned earlier, plot is the order, or sequence, of events that unfold in your story. It is crucial that you
organize these events so that, by the end of the story, they make sense to the reader and build up to a
crucial moment in the narrative. (Connell & Sole, 2013). Sedaris did an excellent job of guiding the
reader through the story. In contrast, descriptive writing does not necessarily follow a timeline or
story pattern. Descriptive style must use another form of organization. A descriptive essay may for
example separate paragraphs by the particular details being described. The author may devote an
entire paragraph to a sense, emotion or object. Amy Tan devoted one paragraph to describe her angst
and dismay "When I found out that my parents had invited the minister's family over for Christmas
Eve dinner, I cried. What would Robert think of our shabby Chinese Christmas? What would he
think of our noisy Chinese relatives who lacked proper American manners? What terrible

Descriptive Essay About Home
My definition for home cannot be described by words or by a simple thought, but home is rather of a
feeling. Home is the calmness and serenity that settles over me like a blanket on a cold snowy night,
just a silent assurance telling me I belong there. It took me quite a bit of time to understand where
exactly that place was, and I didn't know that the answer was always right in front of me. This
feeling would come and go, and I would never recognize it because I knew that only the house I
lived in was my home. I never realized that the place I lived was not my home, that home was in
fact more than what the words in the dictionary say.

would even admire me for being such a helper. At lunchtime, I sat there along with all those

they could improve the rice farm. Often, I would make a comment saying, "Don't worry, I will

There was a tiny pond with a small bridge in beside our old house. The water was so clear that you

Descriptive Essay On A Bag
For most college students, carrying some form of bag is a necessity. Depending on the person, they
might carry a backpack, purse, messenger bag, tote, or something else. Bags are sometimes a way to
express yourself, and sometimes appearance doesn't matter rather the functionality of it. Many
people chose their bag of choice based on these ideas.
For myself, my choice of bag was due to convenience and I'll explain. The backpack I use currently,
I have had since my sophomore year of high school
. It is a grey JanSport backpack, that has one
large pocket and one small pocket. It has a giant hole in the side from years of use and to put it
nicely I am to frugal to buy a new one. Until, the straps breakoff I will probably continue to use it.
In high school I chose this backpack based on appearance (Grey, which is my favorite color) and the
popularity of the brand. Today, I don't care much about the appearance, as many could gather from
the giant hole. I use it because I have it and its still functional.
Laptop: My laptop is a necessity for me and that is why I always carry it in my backpack. I'm often
on campus most of the day and I use the laptop to work on assignments, quizzes, watch Netflix
between classes, or browse the internet.
Binder: My binder is a ½ inch white organizational tool. I use it to hold hard copies of assignments
to prevent damage and blank college ruled paper in case I need a piece for an in–class assignment.
In the clear flap in the front, I typically keep

The air was filled with salt and warm sunlight. The waves were crashing against the Hawaiian sand
causing a beautiful and relaxing sound. With flapping wings and squawking noises, seagulls were
stalking tourists in the search of food. The soft, hot sand was soothing to the touch. The palm trees

Upon reaching the scene, I became aware of what happened. I stared down at a little girl who was
lying face up and was unresponsive to family members calling her name. It was evident that she had
drowned and was on the edge of death. Life guards began to pound on her chest and start chest
compulsions. She continued to stay motionless. Quickly, lifeguards began the operations of CPR.
These long and tiring procedures made the lifeguards physically tired. The rest of the family
bickered back and forth on whose fault this was. "Why couldn't you just watch her and do what you
were told?" I heard behind me. The father screamed, "It was not my responsibility to do that, it was
yours!" The clear frustration began to build and caused more confusion.
The lifeguards circling around the little girl seemed frightened. Leaning closer to hear the rumors
being spread throughout the crowd, I unintentionally noticed the disturbing sound of gargling from
the little girl. She had regained consciousness, but could not breathe due to the water trapped in her
lungs. Policemen arrived on the beach and began to push back the imaginary boundaries
surrounding the circle of lifeguards. The police advised everyone to leave the beach

Descriptive Essay About Being A Woman
It was a frigid Tuesday morning, dim light of the sun was shining from millions of miles away
brightening my day with its sparkling lights. I walked to my 76 years old grandma (Maya) house
through thin and spiky grass, giving me an unbearable feeling in my foot. As I got to my grandma's
house looking pale and a goof with cold frosty air coming out of my mouth, ringing the bell on her
door, she finally opened it. Then, she gave a tight hug with a big surprise in her face of the joy of
seeing me after a month. Her squeeze gave a feeling of warmth where I lost track of my self–feeling
safe and comfortable like a perfect dream. It had melted all my stress and gave me a calm
atmosphere of delights. As I enter her dark and cozy room, seeing many traditional types of
furniture, it had made me feel like I was living my life in the old days. Her bed felt super soft like
clouds, and I could not help myself sitting on that bed and talking with her about her life
experiences as being a woman
. As we sat, she asked, "So, what brings you here today after so long?"
I was in excitement to see myself through her words of her life experiences from her childhood. As I
asked her many questions that involved gender roles of being a woman, she looked serious with a
question mark on her face. We pause for seconds; it was dead quiet, and all I could hear is the tick–
tock of an old cranking sound of a clock. She then responded, "Being a girl, I lived in a farm–like
house, it was a muddy and dirtiest place that no one can imagine living in there today." Her response
had made me terrified because of the description of the condition and the environment she had lived
during her childhood. "My brothers had gone to school while I stay home with my mother helping
her do chores and clean up animals stool, the worst smell God ever had created." she continued,
with shame on her face. I was angrily surprised to hear how much differentiate her family kept in the
gender role of her being a female. In my life, I have never experienced or seen such a dreadful
situation like how my grandma did. Afterward, being not able to attend school had affected her
entire life.
While attending school was not a priority for her because of the stereotypes of

Narrative and Descriptive Essay

Compare–Contrast Essay

A narrative essay is about storytelling for a narrative story to work it must capture and hold the
audience attention you must give a clear understanding of your story. A descriptive essay lets you
describe in detail what the essay is all about using words that appeal to your sense of smell, hearing,
see, touch, and taste. A descriptive essay lets you use words that describes a person, place, or object.
When I compare the author's narrative essay "Are the Rich Happy?" by Steven Leacock and the
author's descriptive essay "Sister Flowers" by Maya Angelou it is clear that there

Make the description vivid and interesting. I think that a descriptive essay is more powerful because
it tell a story in detail. It tells you what it is all about how to except the story where the story
originated from whether it is fiction or a documentary. My opinion on the essays are similar because
narrating the story is the author who is writing the story and also describing the essays in many
ways. I think you must like the descripting essay better it is giving you vivid detail in your essay. It
appeals to your senses in many ways follow your feelings when listening to a descriptive essay. Can
you feel the passion or can you taste the cookies Sister Flowers made and the lemons, sugar, in the
lemonade. And I believe she made those cookies and lemonade with lots of love for Marguerite. I
believe she wanted to encourage Marguerite to talk more in class. And bring more detail to her
work. "Words mean more than what is set down on paper."(grammar.about.com) "It take the human
voice to infuse them with the shades of deeper meaning."(grammar.about.com) "I memorized the
part about the human voice infusing words."(grammar.about.com) "It seemed so valid and poetic."

What are Descriptive Statistics? Essay
WHAT ARE DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS?
Before we continue the discussion about the basic descriptive data elements that are needed to
answer the question I previously posed, it is important to understand what we mean by descriptive
statistics. Descriptive statistics describe the features of the data collected. In other words, descriptive
statistics describe "what" the data looks like, but it does not tell you why or how data elements
interact or influence one another. Descriptive statistics provide a defender with summaries about the
data collected and these summaries may be either quantitative or visual. Quantitative descriptive
statistics are the sum of data points that are usually reported as total numbers or averages in a report.
For

A defender can compile these numbers into simple graphics (i.e. pie charts, bar charts, diagrams), to
look at a picture that can graphically describe the data collected.
Inferential statistics are used to make predictions about the interaction (or correlation) between
different variables. With inferential statistics, you use statistical formulas to reach conclusions or
make predictions that extend beyond describing the total number variables found in the data that you
collect. For example, a defender can use inferential statistics to infer that the early appointment of
counsel improves dispositional outcomes for persons charged with the murder in the first degree.
You can use inferential statistics to explain an observed difference between certain types of cases
and say that the change (or improved outcome) is dependent on certain action and that the change in
that outcome did not happen by chance. By using inferential statistical analysis you can say that an
independent variable (a variable that stands alone and is not changed by another variable) is causing
a reaction in a dependent variable, and if you consistently observe specific reaction then we can we
say with certainty that the independent variable will consistently cause the same reaction (that it is
statistically significant) on the dependent variable. Inferential statistics are used to make predictions
from the data that allow you make generalizations about a specific set of circumstances.

Descriptive Essay
Descriptive Essay
It was a seemingly beautiful day as I drove on a joy ride in my bright blue sports car, with the wind
in my hair. This is an everyday activity for me. My friends would mock me saying, "You spend
more money on gas than you make working." I laughed to myself at the thought of jokes amongst
my friends. That happiness was soon halted. As I continued driving
, I saw a car coming rapidly
around the curve. The car did not show any signs of slowing down as it headed towards the
intersection. The light turned yellow and then quickly red. Another object caught my eye that made
me fear what was going to happen next. A young couple started crossing the street wearing fancy
attire. The first thought that came to mind was, 'they are

One of the police officers came up to me introduced himself, asked me my name and started, "Have
you ever seen this driver before? On the road or around town?" I quickly responded, "No, I have not
officer." He continued, "I learned from the call back to the station that the driver
, David Chrisenger,
is considered the town drunk and does not currently have a valid license due to drinking and
driving". He asked me some questions and asked me to fill out an incident report. Still shaken up by
the whole incident I gladly accepted. The officer ended our conversation. "Thank you so much for
your time, Kevin. We really appreciate it."
The only thought running through my head on my way home was how much I had not appreciated
my wife and children. To witness something of that nature makes one conscientious about what you
have and how quickly it could vanish. I vowed after that day to speak out against drinking and
driving and the terrible outcomes that can transpire from something that some do not view as a "big
deal". It is apparent that better ways have to be found for getting drunk drivers off the road. I
encourage anyone to be responsible for their lives and others by agreeing to never drink and drive
again, and to also aid your family and friends in doing so. Have a designated driver each night or
call a cab. Everyone is capable of saving a
