Giana Lerini K.M. Begian-Lewis Eng 3010 Sec. 007 3/28/24 Project Builder 6 Gipson, Terry, and Stephen M. DiDomenico. "Art and Perception: How Observing and Discussing Art can Support Students' Communication Education." Communication Teacher , vol. 37, no. 1, 2023, pp. 19-23. This article talks about how learning about the arts can really influence a student’s view on their own life, as well as the rest of their academic career. It provides a strategy to get students excited to learn about the arts, as well as allowing them to have some type of agency. I like this article because it touches on the fact that since art is so subjective it is important to remember, when teaching it, to give the students the tools to succeed and to be there for them to help, but to also allow them to be in a space where they can form their own opinions and ideas. This source is extremely reliable as it can be found in the journal “Communication Teacher” and is peer reviewed and published by the National Communication Association. It focuses on how teachers can communicate with students and create a safe and welcoming classroom environment.
Saygi Gerçeker, Ceren. "An Investigation of Fine Arts Students' Attitudes Towards Art Education Based on some Variables." Educational Research and Reviews , vol. 13, no. 17, 2018, pp. 622. Students studying the arts tend to have very strong opinions on certain kinds of art and the way in which it is instructed. In this article we see a group of college level fine arts students be interviewed as we are told what their opinions are on certain aspects of art and art education in and of itself. We see that there are more women being interviewed, but in my personal opinion I think that is ok seeing as fine arts colleges tend to have more female presenting people there. What was found was that not only did each student have varying opinions, but when asked questions about what brought them to go to school for the arts, a lot of student’s home lives really influenced them in their decision making. This source seems pretty reliable as it is from the journal of Educational Research and Reviews, and I have been looking for an article that will provide more student insight on what learning in the arts is like so that I may be able to know what is currently working in this field and what some aspects that may need changing are.
