Boston is the capital of Massachusetts on the Northeast coast of the United States.
It’s in between Concord, New Hampshire and Providence, Rhode Island.
The absolute location for Boston is 42.36° N, 71.05° W (“Boston”, 2023).

Tourism is high in Boston providing a lot of economic growth for the city and state.
Sports are a huge part of the city, the home of the Boston Celtics, the
Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots.
Fenway Park is one of the most historic parks in Major League Baseball (Badertscher, 2022).

Global Significance:
What is the geographic significance of this area of your country or city’s location globally? You should base your input on the
application of geographic concepts to your region. Write 2 to 3 sentences.

Boston is an immigration port of entry and has been for many years, so there is a lot of tourism in this city (Badertscher, 2022).
And according to Northeastern
University admissions (2023), the school has one of the highest rates of international students, with more than 20,000 international students from 147
different countries.

Part II: Connectivity
In this section, discuss connections between your new region and other world regions, as well as connections between your new region and you personally.

How does your city or area of a country within your new global region interact regionally and globally with other regions? In other words,
describe how your region interacts with others, both within the country and abroad. In your response, you could consider economic, cultural, and physical
interactions. Your response should be based on the application of geographic concepts of your region and should be 5 to 6 sentences in length. Include
citations for your resources using APA style guidelines as needed.
Massachusetts, especially in Boston, welcomes many immigrants every year.
About 29% of Boston’s population are born in another country, and much of the
remaining 71% are children of immigrants.
Many of these immigrants are from Asian or Latin countries, so there is a lot of Asian and Latino culture in Boston
(City of Boston, 2022).
These immigrants also contribute to more than 25% of the economic growth in Boston (Lima, 2017).

What connects you personally to this new location, causing you to relocate? For instance, are there any current geopolitical, environmental,

Boston’s diverse culture is what attracts me the most.
The openness to so many immigrants, and the higher education and health care is a bonus.
Their
mayor is the first woman and person of color for Boston.
She addresses climate change and global warming, and is endorsing the Green New Deal (Olapido,
2021).
All of this is important to me because that means she wants to continue diversifying the city, and she wants to help the environment.
The Green New
Deal’s mission is to cut the U.S. greenhouse gases to zero, and to run our economy on non-fossil energy (Cox, 2020).
I also love to be by the water naturally, so
being close to the ocean is soothing for me.
