About 29% of Boston’s population are born in another country, and much of the remaining 71% are children of immigrants. Many of these immigrants are from Asian or Latin countries, so there is a lot of Asian and Latino culture in Boston (City of Boston, 2022). The openness to so many immigrants, and the higher education and health care is a bonus. Their mayor is the first woman and person of color for Boston. She addresses climate change and global warming, and is endorsing the Green New Deal (Olapido, 2021). All of this is important to me because that means she wants to continue diversifying the city, and she wants to help the environment. The Green New Deal’s mission is to cut the U.S. greenhouse gases to zero, and to run our economy on non-fossil energy (Cox, 2020).
