PRELAB Name: Sebah Khiar Date: 2/14/24 Title of Experiment: Building a Circiut Class & Section: PHYS 244-2D1 All lab partners: Sebah Khiar, Annie Nguyen, Lauryn Hill Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to understand how to build a circuit as well as to calculate and measure circuit parameters. Physical Quantities and Units: Physical Quantity Unit Capacitance Farads ( F) Resistance Ohm (Ω) Key Equations: Ctotal = (1/c1 + 1/c2 +1/c3 )…. ^-1 Ctotal = (C1 +C2 + C3….) Rtotal = R1 +R2 + R3 + R4 Rtotal = (1/R1 + 1/R2 +1/R3) ^-1 Summary of Procedure: This experiment will be conducted in 2 parts, both on PhET lab. The first activity consists of utilizing the simulation to predict the overall capacitance of a circuit from the given figure 4 in the lab handout. The circuit will be built in the simulation and the capacitance between points A, B and C will be measured. This will later be analyzed in excel. In activity 2, we will also utilize the simulation but to predict the overall circuit resistance from the given figure 5 in the lab handout. The points of reference will be A, B, C, and D. This will also be analyzed in excel.
