The article that I choose for this discussion was Misinformation lingers in memory: Failure of three pro-vaccination strategies . What sampling methods did they use? Name the technique and describe how they found participants. The type of sampling that was used in this study is convenience sampling. Convenience sampling is when the sample is taken from the population that is convenient for the researchers to obtain (Salkind, 2017). The technique they used was emailing invitations to students of Universities in Edinburgh and Naples (Pluviano, Watt, & Sergio, 2017). Snowball sampling was also utilized to give them access to a larger population. This sampling method resulted in 134 students conducting the first wave of the study and 120 students conducting the second wave. The age group that they used consisted of students from 19 to 34 with the average being about 25. All the students that participated were educated and had at least a bachelor’s level degree. o Who can the results be generalized to? The results can be generalized to younger people in Edinburgh and Naples that have at least a bachelor’s degree. o Does this reflect diversity well? This sample does not reflect much diversity. The sample is small, and it only utilizes a portion of the population for the study. There should be more age differences and people that come from different levels of education. o Describe the measure they used. Do not quote, paraphrase or summarize. The measure that was used was to survey the participants before the study. Then the participants completed one of four different surveys. o Cite and reference your source.
