Finding organic foods where I live was not hard to find. I have several options such as big retail chains such as whole foods, Walmart and Kroger that have a robust organic section How were the organic foods labeled? a. Store labelling was clear and the stickers on the produce indicated “organic” If your local grocery store, discount outlet, or farmer’s market does not regularly stock organic foods what is the reason for it? a. I will assume it is because of the high price and low demand because of price Discuss any cost difference you found. How would you explain the price difference to clients? a. The cost differences found between conventional and organic would be due to high farming cost, low yields. As well as items chosen were all out of season and transportation costs could be a factor. Reflection: Even though organic farming and eating has a lot of benefits to the environment, health, and farmers; however, an important factor for its success is cost and availability. I think if I was with a client and my advice regarding conventional
versus organic would be the following. A good mix of both ideal, fruits and vegetables that cannot be peeled and must be eaten with the skin I would recommend the organic variety, but all others conventional such as bananas or mangoes. I would also recommend foods should be bought while in season as prices are cheaper. In addition, looking at our daily habits to ensure we all we can to protect the environment such as eating less animal protein and buying such items from farms that practice sustainable farming.
