Guided Practice Lab Report Before completing this guided practice report, you should have completed the associated procedure. Screenshots As you complete the procedure for the guided practice, add your screenshots below. Guided Practice Questions After you have completed the procedure for the guided practice, provide your answers to the guided practice questions here. 1. Why is it important to use exit codes? The list constructs use exit codes to understand whether a command has successfully executed or not. If scripts do not properly use exit codes, any user of those scripts who use more advanced commands such as list constructs will get unexpected results on failures.
2. What is the exit code for a successful command execution? 0. It tells the caller the status of the command execution. A successful command call usually returns an exit code of 0 and an exit code of any other value indicates an error. 3. What is the range of exit codes for an unsuccessful command execution? 126 – 255. Every command returns an exit status. A successful command returns a 0, while an unsuccessful one returns a non-zero value that usually can be interpreted as an error code.
