Explain the usage of the SELECT statement in a query, and where the WHERE clause might apply. Explain your rationale. Hello professor and class, The SELECT statement is what you ask to have displayed in a query. It filters through the data and returns the result with the criteria that matches the query. The WHERE clause helps narrow down the results by putting certain conditions on the data, simplifying the results that are returned to the user. The SELECT and WHERE statements used together help narrow down the results of a query to provide an accurate result when gathering the data. For example, if I need to find a specific employee’s salary the WHERE clause narrows the results so it does not show every single employee’s salary in the return.
