JAMES SIMS MHACB 542 COMP #3 Reflecting on this course and the knowledge I discovered regarding leadership skills as well as a leader’s style and acknowledging my own leadership skills and style and learning the necessary ingredients of being an authentic leader. Personally, this module has really taken me because you are constantly learning new ways to be a more effective leader and how to be a better leader and make impactful needs for the betterment of the overall organization. My professional management skills and style have evolved especially with how I interact with my team members, I have learned how to be better listener by actively listening and showing empathy and being able to adapt to an ever-changing environment. These qualities allow me to listen, analyze and understand the persons needs and be able to respond appropriately while building rapport effectively as well as being proactive for possible solutions as well as keeping a professional tone and my willingness to help. I recognize my many areas for improvement and I first I would like my team to know my team to know what my passions and goals are for the organization and my detailed plan for implementation, I also want the my team feel comfortable enough with me to be able to speak to me about any concerns, complaints or feedback by actively listening to their questions and concerns and providing them with feedback while maintaining professionalism and being unbiased and neutral as there is a room for improvement in avoiding intentional biases that may surface In my responses. I am also working hard to improve on uncomfortable or sensitive
JAMES SIMS MHACB 542 COMP #3 topics that I needs to have a sound mind while listening and making these unbiased decisions regarding different day to day situations. In my professional relationships I always want to remain a person who is assertive, and my word is my bond, all my team members know that as a leader If I say I’m going to do something it will be done, and they don’t have to worry about it because they feel confident that I am a man of my word. Additional areas for improvement would be to more in touch with my self- awareness as that enables me to provide personalized responses catered to each interaction so that I am more relatable and more adaptable to that person to act with integrity and empathy when making decisions and managing more effectively by taking the time to actively listen and acknowledge and answer professionally and accurately. I also want to improve on unintentional biases that may come out I want to work on remaining neutral and unbiased in all interactions. In this section I have also learned about my professional relationship management skills and style and how I execute my professional relationships with grace and organization, as we are in a field in which we have many professional relationships that we must nurture and open to receiving new Ideas and skills to better leaders and brushing up skills and learning different ways of being a good leader and I fell there is always room for growth and this course has opened me up to the realization that we must be always looking for new ways to be better. As a person who has been in the health care sector for many years in south Florida with a melting pot of so many different cultures and nationalities, you must be culturally sensitive and aware of our patients cultural background and as a leader you must be able to engage with each and be professional and respectful and I have always been able to adapt and be culturally compliant and know how to
