LH Fall 2023 Page 1 of 4 MGA C10 Case Assignment Instructions Case Assignment Due Dates (20% of Final Grade) Part 1 (Response): Friday October 6 th , 2023 at 11:59pm (3% of final grade) Part 2 (Peer Reviews): Friday October 13 th , 2023 at 11:59pm (4.5% of final grade) Part 3 (Response & Revision): Friday October 20 th , 2023 at 11:59pm (6% of final grade) Part 4 (Self-Reflection): Sunday November 12 th , 2023 at 11:59pm (1.5% of final grade) General Instructions 1. This case assignment incorporates all lecture material up to and including: a. Lecture 5 (Part 1) b. Lecture 6 (Part 3) 2. Your response must be written in case format as shown in the solutions to practice questions posted on Quercus (Canvas). 3. Make use of the case outline templates (posted on Quercus (Canvas)) to plan your assignment. However, your case outline should not submitted as part of your assignment. 4. Case assignment Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 are submitted on peerScholar and Part 4 is submitted on Quercus (Canvas). 5. No late case assignments will be accepted. Late assignments will be awarded a mark of zero . peerScholar The peerScholar software is integrated into the Quercus (Canvas) website for this course. Students should click on the Assignments module to access peerScholar (no separate login is required). Note that the peerScholar website cannot be accessed using Internet Explorer . Therefore, students should attempt to login and become familiar with the peerScholar website on all devices during the first week of lecture. If you have any problems, make sure to contact the instructor immediately . Submission Instructions Case assignments are submitted, marked, and returned electronically as follows: 1. Part 1: The grade for Part 1 will be released two weeks after the Part 1 due date. Note that it will only be the grade that will be released, no additional feedback because the results will be released prior to the Part 3 due date. 2. Part 2 and Part 3: The results for Part 2 and Part 3 will be released two weeks after the Part 3 due date. Individual and Overall comprehensive feedback for Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 will be made available at this time. 3. Part 4: The results for Part 4 will be released two weeks after the Part 4 due date. Make sure to follow the instructions below in order to submit your case assignment correctly. All case assignments that are not submitted according to these instructions will NOT be marked:
LH Fall 2023 Page 2 of 4 Part 1 (Create Phase) 1. Look for the Case Assignment (Individual) peerScholar Link in the Assignments Module of Quercus (Canvas). After you click on the assi gnment, you will see a “Load Case Assignment (Individual) peerScholar Link in a new window” button. Click on the button. The peerScholar activity will be made available at least one week before the due date. Make sure to check that the peerScholar button is available as soon as possible. If you cannot see the button, email the instructor immediately. 2. You should now be in the peerScholar software. Click on the link for the Case Assignment Activity. At least one week prior to the due date, you will find the Part 1 Case Assignment Question. Read and plan the case and consult any of the Case Writing Materials or other relevant resources in Quercus (Canvas). Once you have a good understanding of the case, you should begin your case response. 3. Click on the “Create” Tab. Include your response in the submission area ( note that your response for both Part 1 and Part 3 will be limited to 2,500 words so it is suggested that you limit your Part 1 response to a maximum of 2,000 words ). It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the response can be read and is the correct submission . It is also strongly recommended that students keep a second version of the submission on their personal device as a back up in case there are any issues with peerScholar. 4. When you are ready to submit your response, m ake sure to click “Submit” in the top right corner and not just “Save” at the bottom of the screen . Saving will not submit the case assignment response and thus your Case Assignment Part 1 submission will be considered late . It is recommended that you take a screen shot of your submission for use if there are any technical difficulties. 5. Do not leave your submission until the last minute. peerScholar service can be interrupted and inability to access peerScholar is not a valid excuse for late submissions. 6. The Create phase will close after the Part 1 due date. Your Case Assignment Part 1 submission is now considered late and the entire case assignment will receive a mark of zero (0) . Part 2 Peer Reviews (Assess Phase) Note that if you did not complete the Create Phase by the due date, you will not be able to participate in this phase and the entire Case Assignment will receive a mark of zero (0). 1. Look for the Case Assignment (Individual) peerScholar Link in the Assignments Module of Quercus (Canvas). After you click on the assignment, you will see a “Load Case Assignment (Individual) peerScholar Link in a new window” button. Click on the button. 2. You should now be in the peerScholar software. Click on the link for the Case Assignment Activity 3. Click on the “Assess” tab. You will now see six peers: “Peer 1” to “Peer 6”. First, read all of the peer compositions so you have a good sense of the relative qualities. Then, peer by peer, read the work again and provide feedback as follows: a. Where appropriate, annotate your peer’s response for any comments you would like to make regarding the content of the response. Remember to be careful with your comments since you do not know what the suggested solution looks like! b. As you are reading your peer’s response, you should be evaluating the overall communication. In peerScholar, you will be asked to rate your peer’s response using a likert scale (from either 1 to 5 or 0 to 5) for the following: Rate your peer's response with respect to logical flow of analysis.
LH Fall 2023 Page 3 of 4 Rate your peer's response with respect to whether it was easily understood. Rate your peer's response with respect to his/her effective use of exhibits (if applicable). Rate your peer's response with respect to appropriate and supported assumptions. Rate your peer's response with respect to appropriate formatting. Rate your peer's response with respect to appropriate role and appropriate tone based on the user(s) of the report. Rate your peer's response with respect to appropriate grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Finally, you will be asked to provide an overall comments with respect to the communication component of your peer’s report: c. Provide an overall evaluation regarding the communication component of your peer’s report based on yo ur responses to the likert scale questions above. Remember that your peers will assess your feedback and that you will be marked on the quality of your feedback. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the peer reviews can be read and are the correct peer reviews . It is also strongly recommended that students keep a personal copy of each peer review on their personal device as a back up in case there are any issues with peerScholar. 4. When you are ready to submit your peer reviews, make sure to c lick “Submit” in the top right corner and not just “Save” at the bottom of the screen . Saving will not submit the peer review(s) and thus all or part of your Case Assignment Part 2 (Peer Reviews) will be considered late . It is recommended that you take a screen shot of your submission for use if there are any technical difficulties. 5. Do not leave your submission until the last minute. peerScholar service can be interrupted and inability to access peerScholar is not a valid excuse for late submissions. 6. The Assess phase will close after the Part 2 due date. Your Case Assignment Part 2 submission is now considered late and the Part 2 (Peer Reviews) portion of the Case Assignment will receive a mark of zero (0) . Part 3 Response and Revision (Reflect Phase) Note that if you did not complete the Create Phase by the due date, you will not be able to participate in this phase and the entire Case Assignment will receive a mark of zero (0). 1. Look for the Case Assignment (Individual) peerScholar Link in the Assignments Module of Quercus (Canvas). After you click on the assignment, you will see a “Load Case Assignment (Individual) peerScholar Link in a new window” button. Click on the button. 2. You should now be in the peerScholar software. Click on the link for the Case Assignment Activity 3. Click on the “Reflect” tab . You should now see six tabs: “Peer 1” to “Peer 6”. Read the feedback that your six peers submitted and provide an overall rating of the usefulness of the feedback you were given. Your overall rating of the usefulness of the feedback will be used by the marker(s) when evaluating your peers for Part 2. 4. Next, click on the Revision tab and revise your response in the submission area ( note that your response will be limited to 2,500 words ) based on the peer reviews you received. Note that you cannot simply copy and paste a new response, you must actually edit the response in the peerScholar website so that the changes can be easily tracked. You must also complete the additional requirements for Part

Part 4 Self- Reflection (Reflect Phase) Note that if you did not complete the Create Phase by the due date, you will not be able to participate in this phase and the entire Case Assignment will receive a mark of zero (0). 1. Look for the Case Assignment (Individual) Part 4 dropbox in the Assignments Module of Quercus (Canvas). Address the questions posed in the required. This step will help you learn from this experience in order to improve in the future. 2. When you are ready to submit your Part 4 self-reflection, upload the file using the “File Upload” function. Detailed instructions are available here . All files must not include any electronic errors and must be able to be opened using Microsoft Office. Any files that are submitted that cannot be read will be considered late and will not be accepted. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure th at the file uploaded can be opened and is the correct file. It is recommended that you take a screen shot of the submission for use if there are any technical difficulties. 3. Do not leave your submission until the last minute. Quercus (Canvas) and/or peerScholar service can be interrupted and inability to access either website is not a valid excuse for late submissions. 4. The Quercus (Canvas) dropbox will close after the Part 4 due date. Your Case Assignment Part 4 is now considered late and the Part 4 portion of the Case Assignment will receive a mark of zero (0) .
