Assignment: Research Brief 1 1.2 Assignment: Research Brief By: Ashley Hicks Indiana Wesleyan University HRM-470-01A Professor Patti Lynn Johnston 01/18/2024
Assignment: Research Brief 2 The topic I chose for my research brief will be the significant training phases and the HRD process. I chose this topic because it intrigues me the most. I wanted to learn more about this topic, so I picked it for this research brief. This topic is significant to Human Resource Development because training can be practical if done correctly and with the right developmental programs.  “HRD managers and staff must exert as much influence as possible to ensure organizational members have the competencies to meet current and future job demands. At times, this may require some intervention (such as organization development) to understand better the values and goals of HRD programs and processes across an organization.” (Werner, 2022)  Supervisors are the key to making sure that HRD programs and processes are being implemented. They need to make sure the programs are working, and they need to hold their staff accountable. Some training offered include apprenticeship training, early vocational education programs, early factory schools, early training for semiskilled & unskilled workers, and many more. “The ADDIE model is an instructional design tool that can help HR and training professionals create, organize and streamline effective learning and development programs in their organization.” (Vulpen, n.d.) ADDIE stands for A-Analyze, D-Design, D-Develop, I- Implement, & E-Evaluate. In the analysis phase, this is where you identify the issue.  For example, maybe you’re losing money and want to know how & where. Design is the phase where you implement everything from the analysis phase into a learning design. Develop in this step; you start bringing some training to reality. Implement this stage on how you will deliver the training. It deals with communication. Evaluation is where you want to get good or bad feedback and try to improve any flaws.
Assignment: Research Brief 3 “When applied correctly, the ADDIE model can be used in learning and development initiatives across industries and disciplines to improve individual and group learning and meet learning objectives. Its iterative approach allows for vital feedback at each stage of development, which ensures the final product meets your original instructional goals while helping you identify key areas for improvement in the future.” (Vulpen, n.d.) The three primary HRD functions are: 1. Training and development 2. Career development 3. Organization development HRD professionals have to initiate the change, and they have to follow through with the change. They are the drivers of all the training and change that must be implemented. They must also lead by example. If they don’t know a process, they should also learn it by training. I have learned that in any environment you are in, training isn’t a bad idea.  You need training in any aspect of life or job you plan to do or want. Even if you think you don’t need it, it will only help improve your learning skills and show you have the nerve to strive to improve. Where I work I always wanted more training or asked for more training because to me the more you know they more valuable you are at a company.
