Assignment 6: Analyze Skilled Dialogue and an IEP Meeting Quali&es Video Example 1 Video Example 2 Ra&onale Respect Kelly repeats back what the mom said in her own words. Sekeriye's mom asked for pictures to be sent home and Kelly not only said she would but valid the mom’s reasoning for wan=ng them by using examples. Example 1 is showing respect because Kelly is ac=vely listening and leAng the mom know that she is listening by saying back what she understood from mom. Example 2 is showing respect because Kelly is suppor=ng mom by giving her tools she asked for to help her son at home Reciprocity NaneDe discusses that Sekeriye is able to express his basic needs and wants, is showing academic gains, can follow simple direc=ons and can follow the classroom rou=ne. Sekeriye's mom replies that I'm happy that he knows these things, is geAng beDer, and in the future he is good enough to be able to understand everything. Everyone agrees with a nod and NaneDe: states that she has the NaneDe agrees with what Kelly said and she’s happy that mom is learning ASL at home, that you're using ASL with him at home in order to improve communica=on. Mom replies that she is happy to learn the ASL so they can understand one another. The exchange is considered to be equal because each par=cipant speaks equally and each par=cipant is being an ac=ve listener to make a balanced conversa=on exchange.
Assignment 6: Analyze Skilled Dialogue and an IEP Meeting Responsiveness Mom had made a request for pictures with signs to be used at home. NameDe agreed they could do that and Jay stated how they wanted to stay consistent both home and in school. Kelly, NaneDe, Jay and mom all agree on goals, working together, keeping in contact, and modifica=ons that will enhance and assist Sekeriye;s academically and socially. They integrated strategies at school that meet needs at home.
