During this learning activity, students will be reviewing alphabet recognition and beginning letter sounds. I will be sharing my screen and connect to our smore site “All about the Alphabet”. This site has all 26 letters that students can review at home with their parents. We will be also reviewing alphabet. After reviewing the alphabet recognition and beginning letter sounds on the smore site then, I will ask students to get out their letter mats pages so we can go over the pictures and circle the picture has the beginning sound of the letter. I only plan on review two letters a week. Here is the website to the smore site. https://www.smore.com/bv Describe your planned assessment activity to determine if learning happens (1-2 Paragraphs). I planned on teaching this activity as a whole group together with all students. Then I will send out a message to all parents through the parent communication app letting them know I would like to set up an assessment on ABC letters and sounds with their child. This is help me know if students are learning. List the date and Time for the initial test of your broadcast. Also indicate any adjustments needed before the live lesson (1-2 paragraphs). I wanted to use to Zoom since I had use it in the pasted, but it was no longer compatible with a MAC. I ended up using google meet instead and I had some trouble figuring out how to share my screen to show the smore website. This took about 45 mins before I was able to start the meeting. The date was February 12, 2023, at 11:30. Date and time you February 12, 2023
started your distance technology lesson ( example Jun 23, 11:37 am). 12:12 P.M. Fill in the following items after you teach you distance technology lesson List the date and time you completed your distance technology lesson (example Jun 23, 11:56 am). February 12, 2023 12:32 P.M. Give the name(s), age(s) and grade level of each student who learned from your presentation. Hannah Soberon 4 th grade and she is nine years old This was a Kindergarten lesson, but she was able to help me with this lesson and as if she was in kindergarten. List and describe all learning materials you used as part of your presentation The learning materials I used for this lesson is the following. I used the smore website to help with each letter that we will be learning. The smore site has YouTube videos, ABC mouse videos, and singing walrus videos. The site can teach students about letter recognition and letters sounds. The second thing I will be using a PowerPoint slide that has the different letter pictures and I say each picture asking students if that picture has the letter sound, if it does then student will circle the picture. List and describe the Learning activities you implemented (timeline of topics/activities). The learning activities I will implemented is that students will be able to recognize the letters and their sounds. The first I will do is introduce the smore site to students and explaining the different activities we will be learning from the site. After I will share my screen so students and I can work on the picture mats that we will be using to learn the letters and sounds. I will also create an interactive white board and show students how to write the letters too. Include the results of the assessment activity you implemented (2-3 paragraphs). When I meet with each student independently, I plan on review the letters with each of them. I will sing the ABC song and maybe reviewing on the smore website as well. Then I will create an interactive white board with an assessment form so I will be able to assess students with letter recognition and sounds. I will ask students what the letter is by using my mouse curser to show the letter and if they say the correct answer I will circle the letter, if
they don’t say the correct letter I will mark an X. The same will apply for the letter sound. Once I complete the assessments for each student this will help me know where students are at with their letter knowledge and sounds. I will be able know what students are needing more help with their letter knowledge and sounds. List the key practices for effective distance learning you included in your lesson (2-3 paragraphs). The key practices are making sure that I am teaching at a pace that my students can understand the lesson. Asking students questions to make sure they understand what I am teaching them. If I see that a student is struggling I will reach out to their parents to schedule a one-on-one meeting with them. Distance learning is hard for some students and I feel it’s up to me as a teacher to make sure that I can provided the best learning experiences I can for my students. How was teaching from a distance different than teaching face to face? (1-2 paragraphs). I think that they difference between distance learning and face to face is that face to face is always going to be better for young students. These students are so young, and they need to be in person. I think that they both have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. I will always think face to face will always be better for all students. What parts of your distance teaching went particularly well? (1-2 paragraphs). I think it went very well overall. The only issue I had was to share my screen, but I think with practice it will be better. I was little disappointed to learn that Zoom is no longer compatible with a MAC computer. It took a while for me to get the hang of Goggle meets. What would you do differently the next time you get a chance to teach from a distance? (1-2 paragraphs). I should had try getting on Zoom before getting ready for the lesson. The reason why is Zoom is not compatible with MAC computer. I had to try google meets and had to really reread to get a meeting ready and send out a link to my daughter who helped me with the lesson. Nest time, I will spend some time learning about google meets and how I can use it correctly and not have any trouble.
