PREPARING FOR MY INTERVIEW 1 HSE 410 CASE MANAGEMENT 1-2 JOURNAL: PREPAING FOR MY INTERVIEW Southern New Hampshire University
PREPARING FOR MY INTERVIEW 2 A case manager must be a licensed social worker or registered nurse (Frankel et al., 2018). A caseworker manages numerous diverse situations. A caseworker is a professional who works in various fields such as social work, healthcare, or government agencies to aid and support individuals or families in need. The specific responsibilities and duties of a caseworker can vary depending on their field of expertise, but their primary role is to assess the needs of their clients or cases and help them access the necessary resources and services (Frankel et al., 2018). Caseworkers are found in several settings, such as hospitals, mental health facilities, child welfare agencies, and adult protective services, and schools along with several other places. Various tasks that a caseworker competes in are completing assessments, advocate, referrals, documentation, planning, and following-up with the present case you are working on. SCENARIO Bobbi Jo is 27 and has five children that are ages two, four, seven, eight, and eleven. Bobbi Jo has a history of heroine abuse and was recently released from a rehabilitation facility. Bobbi Jo is residing with her older sister Stephanie that does not have any children of her own. Stephanie becomes easily infuriated with Bobbi Jo’s children as they make a mess of her house, and they are not told to clean their messes up and she says Bobbi Jo’s children are too loud during the day when she is sleeping because she works night shifts and needs her sleep during the day.  This situation gets Bobbi Jo stressed out because they end up arguing over these issues daily and she then resorts to using heroine.  With Bobbi Jo and Stephanie daily arguments, Bobbi Jo becomes angry and takes her anger out on her children by neglecting and abusing them emotionally and physically.  Bobbi Jo would like to move into an apartment of her own, she cannot afford the rent because she is working a low paying job because she did not finish high school.
PREPARING FOR MY INTERVIEW 3 Currently, there is an open case with Child Protective Services regarding concerns over Bobbi Jo’s children. Bobbi Jo states that her drug addiction began when she was a teenager, and she started using drugs because she had a sexual assault continue for one year from a family member. Bobbi Jo has a diagnosis of Bipolar I and PTSD but has not received any medicinal or therapeutic care for her diagnosis. I think that the Clinical Model and the Strength’s Based Model would work best in Bobbi Jo’s situation. Adapting the Clinical Model would incorporate psychotherapy in crisis intervention which could help Bobbi Jo with her childhood trauma. Bobbi Jo has numerous strengths that shows upon quitting heroine. I think that if Bobbi Jo receives the correct support with the appropriate tools to use towards maintaining a goal-oriented focus.
