fewer hierarchical levels. This also helps to promote a quicker decision-making process. Management will consist of an operational manager, in charge of day-to-day operations. Marketing manager, responsible for advertising, promotions, and building company awareness. A director of finance and accounting, taking care of financial transactions and payroll. Lastly, Human Resources and administration, responsible for managing hiring, training, and employee relations, as well as administrative tasks. In addition to these positions, there will be a bookkeeper under finance and accounting management. As well as an organizational buyer and market analyst under marketing management. Decision-making will be semi-centralized, as it will be a mixture of both centralized and decentralized. CAN Sports measures staff performance with annual evaluations, however, new employees receive their

The evaluations of staff performance are based on quality of work, quantity of work, communication skills, ability to complete position-specific tasks, workplace attitude, problem-solving skills, willingness to grow, and how well the employee met their previous evaluation goals. After evaluations, employees will work alongside the company to generate staff goals for the coming year.

performed by these front-line employees would be overseen and guided by the middle and upper levels of management, including managers for Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Administration, and the Supply Chain (Pride et al., 2023). Some of these managerial positions may be compressed or assigned to one person in the early stages of the business’ growth. CAN Sports’ goal is to use participative leadership and appropriate levels and types of power with all employees. Input from employees and managers alike will be gathered and acknowledged through participative leadership, which will help guide decision making and create understanding and genuine commitment from the team towards CAN Sports’ goals (Pride et al., 2023). Legitimate power will be used to direct and guide employees towards CAN Sports’ goals, while Reward power and Referent power will help motivate employees through both monetary and nonmonetary compensation and an overall respect/affinity for CAN Sports as an organization (Pride et al., 2023). To realize and maintain the standards and potential of
employees and managers CAN Sports will implement various strategies for motivation across the organization.
Employee Motivation
Motivation of employees in CAN Sports will be attained through many processes that implement human resources, organizational behavior, and workplace theories/concepts. Before employees even begin working for CAN Sports it’s important that effective and equitable and diversity-oriented operations for recruitment, selection, orientation, socialization, and training are in place (Schwind et al., 2022). This will
help attract and retain the best suited employees for CAN Sports and help build a sense of trust and motivation because of multiple good first impressions (Schwind et al., 2022). Due to the repetitive nature of tasks in retail jobs, job enrichment and job enlargement strategies will be used (Pride et al., 2023). Employees working on equipment repair will oversee their own customer relations (setting up appointments, communicating what needs to be repaired, ensuring customer satisfaction), maintaining their equipment, keeping inventory of materials they need, and working alongside trade-in employees to refurbish trade-in equipment (Schwind et al., 2022). Trade-in employees will have the responsibility of determining an appropriate trade-in value for equipment by researching prices and comparing the quality of the equipment submitted, while also submitting equipment to the repair services. These examples of Job enrichment will make employees feel empowered and motivated due to more variety in
their everyday work, as well as more responsibility for the outcomes of their work, which will lead to pride, recognition from both customers and management, and a sense of accomplishment (Pride et al., 2023). Employee empowerment is also observed through participative leadership, in which CAN Sports employees will have the opportunity to provide input into the decision-making process and feel motivated from their ability to shape their job and how they perform in it (Pride et al., 2023). Goals for CAN Sports employees will use employee input and be evaluated so that relevant and effective feedback
reaches employees thus guiding/motivating them to improve the way they work (McShane et al., 2021).

Compensation such as employee discounts, end of year bonuses (after proper assessment and evaluation), health care opportunities, and student tuition reimbursement will motivate employees to join CAN Sports and work hard to maintain these benefits. Employee satisfaction will be attained by using Herzberg’s theory by meeting employee maintenance factors and giving opportunity achievement,
advancement, growth, and recognition within the organization (Pride et al., 2023). Overall, all aspects of CAN Sports will instill a feeling of equity and justice in all levels of the organization through the different strategies, theories, and human resource initiatives.
