Assignment: Exploring Digital Age Influence
Research Topic
(Belle & Dyk, 2019) In the digital age, several key concepts and phenomena shape our society and influence various aspects of our lives. One such concept is the adoption of a digital presence by companies on social media platforms. This concept is driven by the exponential growth of social media and mobile technologies, which have prompted organizations to recognize the need for an online presence in order to reach out and connect with their digitally savvy customers By capturing data from platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and blogs, companies can integrate this information into their sales process and better understand customer preferences and behaviors to create targeted and personalized marketing strategies.
(Hruška
& Marešová, 2020)This is particularly important when targeting young people, as they heavily use social media platforms, and their behavior and personalities online can supply insights for creating effective marketing strategies to appeal to this target group.
Digital Age Background
(Modili et al., 2022)
The digital age has significantly transformed society, affecting education, decision-making, family dynamics, digital literacy, and industries. Advancements in technology have led to increased virtualization and gamification, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The digital economy has increased productivity and innovation, while consumer behavior has been transformed. Digital interactions have become cloud-based, shifting from an information society to an interaction society. The digital age has profoundly reshaped communication, education, and the economy, transforming daily lives into virtual and gamified experiences.
Digital Age Influence Rationale
Assignment: Exploring Digital Age Influence
(Pedrosa et al., 2020
, p
. 472) In the context of the digital age, qualitative research is particularly relevant for understanding and evaluating the impact of digital technologies on society. Qualitative analysis allows for deeply exploring people's experiences, beliefs, and behaviors related to digital technologies. This research method works well for looking into relationships and assumptions not directly linked to digital technologies. It is also suitable for looking into abstract ideas and operational definitions in the digital age. In addition, qualitative research can capture critical information about offline behavior and the broader social and contextual influences on engagement with digital technologies.
A Research Question for Each of the Five Methodological Approaches
1.
Ethnography: How do cultural norms and values influence the decision-making processes
within a specific community?
2.
Case study: What are the key factors that contribute to the success of a specific company in a competitive market?
3.
Grounded theory: What are the main factors that influence individuals' decision-making processes when choosing a career path?
4.
Phenomenology: What is the lived experience of individuals with chronic pain, and how does it change their daily lives and overall well-being?
5.
Generic qualitative inquiry: What are the familiar challenges teachers face in implementing innovative teaching methods in the classroom, and how do they overcome them?
