1.
How would you characterize what Diana describes as her Love Addiction?
-
When Diana was describing it as an addiction, she emphasized the craving for affectionate words, gestures, and the profound desire to feel loved, adored, and essential, intensifying her eagerness to seek and experience love.
She just wanted what she never was able to experience. 2.
What thoughts do you have about the sorts of events or experiences in her life that may have contributed to the development of her powerful need to be in a love relationship?
-
Growing up, Diana never witnessed her mother and father expressing love with one another. The absence of grandparents, coupled with her father's drunken confessions about not ever wanting her, created lasting emotional challenges, particularly in trying to understand what is love.
3.
What consequences or vulnerabilities do you see that her Love Addiction
carries for her in her life?
-
I am concerned she might fall prey to love bombing, making her vulnerable to abusive relationships. Given her susceptibility due to past vulnerabilities, leaving such toxic relationships might prove challenging for her due to a potential lack of will power. 4.
Any thoughts about how you might work with her to address what she describes as her Love Addiction?
-
I think If I was to work with Diana I would try to focus on enhancing her self-love. Exploring sources of endearment like passions or having
a pet for companionship might occupy her during challenging times. Engaging in physical activities could serve as a beneficial coping mechanism for her. 5.
Can you identify any one thing that Diana said the struck you as particularly interesting or powerful?
-
Something that Diana said that stood out to me was “ The idea of having someone hold you and tell you they love you”. The reason this stood out to me was because it made me think of how important love really is in our lives and how without it we are nothing.
