. Here is a link to the
GEIT Test
(also found on the Course Resources page or at the bottom of the Task 1 instructions). Make certain to attach both GEIT test and the assignment before submission
. Please do not include your results as a link as the evaluators
cannot open file links within your submission. B. Intrapersonal Improvement
Apply either the research of Peter Salovey and John D. Mayer or Daniel Goleman to explain TWO
ways that you can improve your intrapersonal areas of opportunity (self-awareness and/or self-management) from your GEIT results. (Unit 2: Module 1). 1.
According to Daniel Goleman, self-awareness is a combination of emotional self-
awareness, self-assessment, and self-confidence. It is the foundation of emotional intelligence. “
Without Emotional Self-Awareness, it is difficult to become proficient in and consistently use the other Emotional and Social Intelligence Competencies.” (Goleman, 2017) Self-awareness was my second lowest score on the test. The first Goleman method of improving my score in this area would be detection and identification of my emotions. I am quick to stifle my emotions and try to ignore them or
hide them. Learning to identify my emotions and addressing them would bring them to the forefront for me to address them.
2.
The second way to improve self-awareness is to control my response to my emotions. When I am under pressure or feeling anxiety, I tend to be distracted my work suffers. Learning to address and control my emotions and to respond more professionally would make me more effective in a corporate environment.
C. Interpersonal Improvement
C. Describe TWO
Emotional Intelligence communication techniques
that can improve your interpersonal areas of opportunity (social awareness and/or relationship management) from the GEIT results (Unit 2: Modules 1 and 3). Please be sure to explain how these Emotional Intelligence communication techniques will help you to improve your interpersonal areas of Emotional Intelligence. 1.
My lowest score on the GEIT test was relationship management. “
Relationship management
is a strategy in which an organization maintains an ongoing
level of engagement with its audience.” (Kenton, 2020). The first way for me to improve my relationship score is to use
proper communication techniques. Listening with empathy is one form of communication, meaning to relate to the speaker’s emotions and thoughts. This helps to understand the speaker’s point of view and what the idea is that they are trying to express. 2.
Another communication technique that would improve my intrapersonal skills would be to acknowledge and affirm the speaker’s communication. This not only ensures that the speaker’s ideas are understood but also that the speaker feels seen and heard and their thoughts duly noted, even if the listener disagrees. Since my GEIT score was lowest for relationship management, this communication technique would help me communicate better with my coworkers and develop those relationships. D. References
