Hello, my name is Erica Warner. Thank you for taking the time to let me introduce myself and for processing my application for this position. I have a Bachelor of
Science in Management from Arizona State University. I am interested in working for the Hilton Resort and Villas in Scottsdale for the Assistant Front Desk Manager. This job
opportunity is exciting as I will be developing new skills, and experiences. Although I have had several years of experience working at the front desk and working in direct sales. This job opportunity caught my interest because I have years of experience in maintaining high quality service for both the guests and the staff. I have always enjoyed being able to help others and working in a collaborative environment. Overall, I want this
job because this would advance my career even further and I would be able to achieve the company’s goals as well as my own career goals.
I believe I would be a good asset to the Managing staff at the Hilton Resort and Villas because of my different strengths, skills, and values. Perseverance, honesty, and humility are my signature strengths that contribute most to this position. Perseverance is
one of my greatest strengths to have a successful work ethic which can be noticed through my enthusiasm and determination to solve problems. Honesty has also been
one of my biggest strengths throughout my life because being dishonest won’t solve the
problems that occur. This strength also amplifies my humility because it’s important to help everyone and comply with doing tasks without being arrogant or demeaning towards others. It is important to remember people are still learning or could be having a
bad day.
My traits that would be an asset consist of being communicative and adaptable. Communication is one of the top keys to having a successful workflow in the environment. Being communicative between everyone creates an open environment for everyone to express their feelings about different issues or conflicts that can arise for both the employees and guests. Which brings me to my second trait of being adaptable because solving everyone’s concerns involves doing different things or compromising with others. Both traits complement each other and improve my work ethic.
While my career values involve creating equality in the work environment and a positive attitude among the employees. Equality in the workplace through diversity makes the environment feel more inclusive. While giving everybody an equal opportunity to everyone. A positive attitude among the staff will help everyone get a long and makes a more of a collaborative work environment. 5.
Part II. - Write about the following:
What did you execute well in your speech? (Include your own thoughts about how you think you did)
What were some of your challenges? (Include your own thoughts about where you think you struggled)
What is some of the feedback you received from your observer? (Include what your observer thought about the pitch overall and areas for improvement)
6. How could you best use this elevator speech technique in college or career pursuits?
My goal for my speech is for everything to flow nicely together and sound appealing to the people listening while informing them about myself. While also having a friendly tone
throughout the whole speech. I think I executed all parts of my speech; I focused on being informative about my education, experience, and my skills along with my values
that I can contribute to this company. While also stating my qualifications and education history. Although this speech was a bit challenging to put together when it came to creating a layout. Another challenge I had was the wording of my speech because I wanted it all to be fresh instead of repeating the same word multiple times. I feel like I could have worked more on that, but I am still proud of how my speech sounded. I read this speech to my family and friends to see how felt about it. My feedback consisted of mainly everyone being impressed, but no one had any comments or critiques for me. Overall, I think the elevator speech could be best used for career applications or internships to give the interviewer a sense of who you are and what you’re able to accomplish if you had the job.
