We as educators hear a lot about integrating technology into the classroom. Why is this especially important in a science classroom? Integrating technology is important in a science classroom for a couple of different reasons. The first reason being that our students are technologically advanced. These students are this way because they are growing up in a world full of technology. They are used to having technology used in their lives one way or another. Students can also, “use the technology to clarify any misconceptions and stimulate proper concept formation” (Nickerson, 1995). When I teach my students and they ask me a question I am unsure of, I will tell them I must do additional research because I do not know the answer. I think it is important for the students to know that we do not know everything, and technology is where we turn to as well. “...computers can help learners to construct an understanding of complex concepts” (Martin et al., 2009). The main reason to integrate technology is to expand the learning opportunities in the classroom.
