Report
In this study, I focused on the texting habits of College students at the University of Central Florida. The data was collected by randomly choosing 20 students in the café to tell me the amount of texts they send per day. The mean number of texts sent per day for the 20 students is 32.6 and the standard deviation is 25.2. I specifically chose a diverse group of students by considering their race, sex, popularity, social life and major. To get reliable and accurate data I needed to make sure that the collection of the data was clear and concise. There is data from a previous study that found that the average student sends 96 text messages a day and receives 104. (Carter, 2011).   The numbers from this data set represent the number of participants(N), raw scores (text per day), Z scores, mean(X), and standard deviation(SD). The number of participants (N) in this study is 20 students. The raw scores in the table ranged from as low as 0 to 86 text messages sent a day. By using the raw scores I was able to find the Z scores for each value. The Z scores ranged from -1.29 to 2.12. The mean according to the histogram equaled to .00. The standard deviation was 1.026. The histogram appears to be positively skewed. There are also three high frequencies which makes this a multimodal distribution.   Carter, D., & Denny CarterDennis has covered higher education technology since April 2008.
