Cross-Platform Project Challenges: A Study of Communication, Coordination, Integration.
At the inception of any major project, a project manager must ensure that key team members and stakeholders remain informed of the status of the project. Often, a project does not affect a singular team or department, the project can have a huge impact on entire enterprises. Especially upon the implementation of new standards or processes that come from the development of the project. The changes brought forth from the project and implemented by the project manager can receive unsatisfactory results from team members not fully understanding the benefits of the new processes or changes. This research paper will discuss how a project manager can better communicate, coordinate, and integrate the project with cross-platform teams
to ensure a cohesive implementation, and overall success for the project. Problem Statement
A project seldom only affects one team or a single enterprise, the individuals who are a part of the project usually represent a team but can become narrow-minded when the project is to
be implemented. A process change or improvement could negatively affect the workplace or may
impact other projects that are in work. Due to this, project managers must communicate with other area managers or project managers to ensure that boundaries are not crossed, and that implementation will not negatively affect the team member or workplace. Proposition/Hypothesis Statement
Project managers can ensure project success by communicating with other project managers and senior managers on how the implementation and new standards of a project will affect the workplace and can reengage the initial project to re-evaluate aspects of the project. 2
Key Questions How will a project affect a team or workplace when implemented?
Will the initial project cross boundaries with other projects and affect the measures being implemented? Methodology
To evolve this topic qualitative research will be used for this search paper. Case studies and journal articles will be used for research as well. Background/Literature Review
In this section, I will identify real-world examples through similar case studies and locate
examples of real-world project after-action reports or debriefs of projects and their implementation. I will select project debriefs or after-action reports because these types of documents will shed light on the situation. Analysis/Discussion
One situation identified is the implementation of “New Coke” in the 1980s, where Coke failed to identify its customer’s motivations and desire for a new Coke. This example will focus on how there should have been more research conducted other just focusing on the taste. The research that needed to be conducted was, is there an actual need for “New Coke.?” These questions can be applied to many projects, In the aviation and aerospace industry, there are instances where some projects are not needed. Some processes need only slight modification and
do not need all the attention and resources needed to fix issues that a project will bring. 3
