A. I chose to write about public School. B. The school challenge I picked that commonly occurs in the school setting is procurement of resources. C. a. Historical influence on procurement of resources: There has been a lot of support from historical movements that have helped public schools get the resources that they need. Schools used to be limited to a small number of selected people. Those people were often white people. There was no set way to fund public schools. This meant that there was a tuition charge in order to keep the school afloat (Kober & Renter, 2020). With being charged tuition, there was only a certain number of people who could afford an education. There were few schools that were funded by the people residing in that town. As public schools began to spread there became more opportunities to get funding. “About 47% of public school revenues come from the state level, 45% from the local level, and a little more than 8% from the federal level,” (Kober & Renter, 2020). Public schools now are receiving more funding which allows them to have more resources. Public schools receive the resources that they need from funding, which they did not always have access to. b. Cultural influences on procurement of resources: There is a lot of cultural change that has led to influences on procurement of resources. As society continues to become more advanced, so does the need for resources in a public school. With technology being more relevant there is higher demand for technology within schools. This is not only for the students, but also for the teachers. Technology has made teaching easier as well as learning or doing work for students. With culture always changing, it changes the demands of resources for public school. c. Legal influences on procurement of resources: There have been many steps taken in the right direction to distribute funding for public school evenly. In 2017 there was a bill that was passed to help fund education for public schools and fund the tools that they need. When schools are properly funded they are able to get all the resources that they need. “ Student performance improves with greater spending,” (Lafortune, 2023). With the proper funding of public schools, comes greater outcomes with education.
