Dunkin Donuts analysis. Where does the country currently operate? If you were one of the top executives for the company and were looking at expanding to a new host market. Which market would you recommend and why? Identify current news article(s) about the firm or market that support your recommendations (cite your sources!). Apply the CAGE Frame- work. Dunkin Donuts is a well-known American multinational coffee and doughnut com- pany that has been operating for over 70 years. Currently, the company operates in more than 36 countries worldwide, including the United States, Canada, China, India, and Brazil. However, if I were one of the top executives for the company and looking to expand into a new host market, I would recommend entering the market in South Korea. South Korea is an ideal market for Dunkin Donuts due to its growing coffee culture and increasing demand for Western-style food and beverages. The country has seen a significant rise in coffee consumption over the past decade, with coffee shops becoming popular meeting places for young people. This trend presents a great opportunity for Dunkin Donuts to tap into this market by offering its wide range of coffee flavors and doughnut varieties. Furthermore, South Koreans have shown a preference for American brands and products. This can be seen in their enthusiasm for other American fast-food chains
such as McDonald's and Starbucks. By leveraging this existing interest in American brands, Dunkin Donuts can easily establish itself as a trusted brand in South Korea. According to an article published by The Korea Herald (2021), Dunkin Donuts plans to open 100 new stores across South Korea by 2025. This indicates that the company recognizes the potential of this market and is actively working towards expanding its presence there. Applying the CAGE framework to analyze this expansion decision further supports entering South Korea as a host market. The cultural distance between the United States and South Korea is relatively low compared to other countries where Dunkin Donuts currently operates. Both countries share similar values regarding conve- nience food culture. In conclusion, expanding into South Korea would be a strategic move for Dunkin Donuts due to its growing coffee culture, demand for Western-style food and beverages, preference for American brands among consumers, and low cultural distance from the United States. The company's plans to open 100 new stores in South Korea by 2025 further validate this recommendation. Reference: The Korea Herald. (2021, March 16). Dunkin' Donuts to open 100 new stores in S. Korea by 2025. Retrieved from https://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=202103
