1 CONFLICT MANAGEMENT Biplap KC Project Management, Georgian@ILLAC 24W Advanced Project Planning – 201 6 February, 2024
2 1. How would you facilitate a discussion between Emily and Alex regarding scope creep vs. meeting deadlines? What compromise could be reached? The dialogue between Emily and Alex concerning scope creep versus meeting deadlines appears rational from their respective viewpoints. Alex, fulfilling his role as a project manager, holds the duty of ensuring the delivery of a high-quality product within the agreed-upon timeframe, while Emily, as the lead developer, advocates for the incorporation of additional features to enhance the application. I aim to facilitate this conversation by embracing the compromise approach, where both parties engage in negotiation to achieve a mutually agreeable resolution. This may involve prioritizing crucial features for the initial release while keeping the option open for integrating additional features in subsequent updates. Throughout this process, Alex will provide guidance to ensure alignment with the project's timeline and objectives. 2. How can Chris and Sarah reconcile their differences in design preferences to create a cohesive and appealing app design? What steps should they take to ensure effective collaboration? To ensure effective collaboration Chris and Sarah should accommodate emphasizing areas of agreement rather than areas of difference on the choices of UI/UX and design choices. Keeping them ego aside they should be able to accommodate each other’s opinion and idea and find a middle ground that will satisfy both.
3 3. What strategies would you implement to improve communication within the team and ensure that all members feel heard and valued? While I advocate for flexibility in implementing communication improvement strategies to ensure all team members feel valued, I recognize the diverse nature of project teams, often cross- functional and dynamic. Consequently, strategies may vary depending on the context. For instance, when time permits, I would consider utilizing confrontation as a tool, facilitating direct, face-to-face communication. However, in time-constrained situations, compromise may be the most pragmatic approach to proceed effectively. 4. How would you prevent similar conflicts from arising in future projects? What lessons can be learned from this experience? To prevent similar conflicts in upcoming projects, it's crucial to establish clear communication channels among team members, ensuring effective and transparent communication. Additionally, defining roles and responsibilities is essential to clarify decision- making authority for everyone involved. Encouraging collaboration while maintaining realistic expectations is vital. Furthermore, integrating conflict resolution plans based on insights gained from past experiences is essential to swiftly address any issues that may arise.
