Assignment, Lesson 04 Palm Beach State College, Department of Business MAR4802- Marketing for Managers Professor Mario Bosquet February 6, 2024
Assignment, Lesson 04 2 One of the best ways to do market research is through the Internet and other popular social media platforms. This is the main route I would take if I owned a small pet grooming company. A small business specializing in pet grooming must stay connected with the outside world; it is essential for success. It is essential to remain in the loop of customers, competition, and other potential business stakeholders. As an owner of a grooming business on a budget, social media is a fantastic tool that any user can utilize at zero cost. With the help of Facebook and Instagram, it can be relatively straightforward when reaching out to customers, posting updates, and learning about what the company's competitors are doing more efficiently. Seeing the actions, presentation, and overall products and services that indirect and direct competitors offer through social media can be valuable to a small business looking to grow. By watching competitors, small business owners can remain innovative and up-to-date and learn the value of what is being offered, allowing a chance to increase company profitability. Another way social media would be beneficial to the expanding small business is that allowing a platform for customers to leave reviews about previous encounters allows for increased visibility for the organization as well. Many individuals check reviews before they pick where to get their dog groomed; positive reviews can increase business overall. Social media allows companies of all sizes to engage with their followers by responding to comments and messages and liking and sharing posts related to the business. Another low-cost way to utilize market research insights directly is through observations (Kotler & Armstrong, 2021). I would find various articles containing secondary data on the dog grooming business market, more specifically, my part of the United States, looking up secondary data in journals and sampling various methods. I would also utilize the resources that the government provides online to owners of small businesses; they are readily available all the time and provide advice on the means necessary to start and finance a small business. These are helpful while on a budget because they are of no cost to the person seeking out the information.
Assignment, Lesson 04 3 The websites I would visit specifically include www.sba.gov , which has numerous free publications about small businesses, the census website, www.census.gov , and www.bea.gov , which is the Bureau of Economic Analysis (Kotler & Armstrong, 2021). These different websites can provide significant insights that allow for a small organization's monetary growth within a large industry. Another way I would incorporate market research into my low-budget pet grooming business is to become more involved with the local community through different events in the city and county. Being present at these events is great because it makes your business visible to potential customers. Participating in different events, such as walks, allows a small business owner to make the right connections (Hill, 2023). Going out and advertising yourself is another great way to market your small business and help it succeed; handing out pamphlets and giving dog grooming advice is another way to reach potential customers.
