2 Concrete Experience: “what I did” section I created a “Detective Day” Classroom Transformation to engage my kindergarten students in a day filled with mystery and standards-aligned critical thinking activities. I transformed my classroom to be set up like a crime scene, complete with evidence markers and "clues" scattered around. Students were turned into little detectives, equipped with magnifying glasses and notebooks, tasked with solving various math-related mysteries throughout the day (ThinkShareTeach, 2019). Reflective Observations: “what I wonder” section One aspect of the experience that stood out was the students' discourse and engagement through their collaboration. I observed students who typically worked alone eagerly joining forces to solve the puzzles. This made me wonder about the power of themed learning environments in fostering teamwork and communication among young learners, highlighting how crucial it is to design learning experiences that not only educate but also build essential social skills.  Abstract Conceptualization: “what I learned”/”so what” section From this activity, I learned the significant impact of immersive learning experiences on student engagement and skill development. It reinforced my understanding of Kolb's experiential learning cycle, specifically the stages of concrete experience and reflective observation, and how these can be leveraged to deepen students' learning (Brown, 2015). This experience taught me the value of creativity in lesson planning and its role in making abstract concepts more tangible for my kindergarten students.  Application “now what” section
3 Moving forward, I plan to integrate more experiential learning opportunities into my teaching practice more often. This will involve designing activities that are not only curriculum- aligned but also cater to the diverse learning styles and interests of my students. By doing so, I aim to create a more dynamic and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued and motivated to learn. This approach will also be applied to foster skills beyond academic achievement, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration, preparing students for future challenges both inside and outside the classroom.
