1 Session 3: Journal By: Halle Ross Colorado Christian University BUS-474A Prof Mark Plaiser 2/4/24
2 Session 3: Journal How does one motivate their team to accomplish goals? This is something we should ask ourselves on a daily basis. As an assistant manager of a sales team, I deal with inevitable challenges on a daily basis. The purpose of this journal is to reflect on how I can impact my team members in a positive manner and create a climate of productivity in the workplace and encourage risk taking. As a leader, there are actions I can take to create an attitude of productivity and risk taking within the workplace. “Over and over again, people in our sturdy tell us how important mistakes and failures have been to their success. Without those experiences, they would have been unable to achieve their aspirations” (DuBrin, p. 80, 2019). Communication and engagement between members of a team are crucial in being successful in an organization. After the team members are fully committed to the challenge, I must encourage others to take the risk of taking on a challenge even when it means they might make a mistake. “Making challenge meaningful to everyone means giving them a chance to find a connection to the challenge” (DuBrin, p. 79, 2019). Conquering mistakes in life is a part of the learning process and leads to a deeper purpose. I can set an example to my team members by acknowledging my mistakes, and doing something differently moving forward. A leadership quality I admire is perseverance, and a way I can demonstrate this is by facing it head on. It is important to face challenges with tenacity as a Christian. An example of this in Hebrews 10:36 “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised” (NIV). We must face our struggles with positivity and see them as a new opportunity to develop into a better person and inspire those around us.
3 As a Christian, I strive to be a better leader and positively impact the people I surround myself with. If I can inspire others to do better, work hard, and love God, my soul is satisfied. I can inspire change and accomplish goals by establishing a closer relationship with God, and letting Him lead the way. I believe he will hold my hand in the face of challenge and allow me to persevere. Because of Him, I can maintain the personal strength and inspire courage in others to endure the same challenges.
