Module Five: HR Learning Journal Samantha Ortiz Southern New Hampshire University HRM 300: Creating Employee Experience Prof. Sonja Moffett 02/11/2024
Summarize the most important strategies/elements in attracting and recruiting employees. There are many strategies and elements for attracting and recruiting employees to a work site, which HR plays a role in. Matching employees' knowledge, abilities, and characteristics (KSAO) is important to best fit the right person to the right job. That is why I think interviewing is an important strategy to learn about the person. The person holding the interview can best match the job with someone who best fits. The interviewee can learn more about the job as well. Unlike the Halloween store that hired me as a teenager. I was hired as a cashier at the beginning of October at the only local Halloween store. Originally, I wanted to work on the sales floor or in the dressing room. I even told them that was my first job, and I had no prior experience because the store got busy, and I didn’t want to hold them back. I missed counted my register a few times, over gave change, and always forgot to ask the customers about donating and if they had coupons. They finally realized I was not ready to be a cashier and put me in the dressing room after 2 weeks, which involved more training. Outline your rationale for choosing the above strategies and elements over others. The whole KSAO system is important because employees are the face of the business. You want the workers to be where best comforts their experience and knowledge or make sure the proper training is given to employees who are new to the field before working independently.
During the interview it is when both parties get to know more about one another. The person being interviewed can get a feel for the company and see they feel like they're a fit and Vis versa. That would help with not always having to find employees for that same job title every so often as well as not having to be involved with a 3 rd party hiring agency and needing to train someone new every so often. Explain at least one connection between how HR performs the activities in this life cycle stage and whether a new hire will work with the company. Human Resource (HR) performs an important role in recruiting. They must make an ad that catches the attention of serious inquirers as well as interviewing them and make the right choice for the position. Once the new employees have been chosen, HR must preoceed with the hiring process: background check, paperwork, collecting needed information from the newly hired employee, setting them up in the system, and getting them into training. Going through that whole process also helps HR with getting to know them better, giving a clearer picture to see if they are truly a good fit or not for the position and the company overall.
