Introduction For over thirty years, Moxie's, a restaurant network located in Vancouver, has created a solid reputation as a culinary refuge by offering artisan food, distinctive cocktails, and exceptional customer service. Moxies has grown to encompass 55 venues with a dedicated team of 7,000 people and a significant footprint spanning Canada and the United States. The culinary genius at the heart of Moxie's, Executive Chef Tommy, is a kitchen maestro. With an unshakable commitment to upholding the highest standards, he summarizes his culinary tenets with the phrase, "Nothing less than perfection leaves our kitchen." His skilled direction has helped Moxie's establish a reputation for having excellent culinary standards. The well-planned menu that Chef Tony specifically developed for Moxie's showcases his culinary genius. Each dish displays his dedication to utilizing only the freshest ingredients and his mastery of flavour balancing to produce culinary masterpieces. These menu items are sensory experiences that make a lasting impression on customers rather than just meals. In addition to providing outstanding food, Moxie's prioritizes fostering a charming and safe environment for its patrons. The ambiance of the dining establishment was created with care to improve the consuming food pleasure and give the ideal environment for memorable meals and special events. All visitors' health and safety are continually ensured by enforcing strict safety regulations. A Little History Moxie's, is a luxurious and relaxed dining creation with a reputation for serving handmade meals that celebrate different civilizations. The eatery, which looked like Muncie's, initially opened for business in Calgary in 1986. It has developed from a family restaurant to a popular destination for competent food at reasonable costs throughout the years. In 2007, the restaurant earned multiple awards across Canada after revamping its kitchen and look in
2004. In the year 2017, Moxies set up its initial headquarters in the country's capital Dallas, Texas. Since then, the restaurant has received cultural praise and clients from all around North America. Moxie's has become known for its creative ideas, dining skills, and dedication to creating an original ambiance that reflects the distinctive features of its neighbourhoods. Other upscale casual dining chains, such as the Earls and Cactus Club Café, are rivals. Moxie's is part of the Northland Properties portfolio and owns several restaurant franchises. Moxie's track record is a testament to culinary creativity, dedication to quality, and a love of providing exceptional dining occasions for its customers. Business operations and challenges: The aforementioned establishment focuses on presenting an extensive selection of seafood dishes, promoting its position as the number one destination among those who appreciate nautical meals. Despite the substantial challenges posed by the COVID-19 epidemic, the restaurant was able to overcome them all because of the support it got from its cooperating businesses. This dining establishment was not only able to survive but flourished despite the pandemic and subsequent boundaries on actions, which had a major effect on the hospitality business. The restaurant's location amid a vibrant and varied homosexual community makes it stand out. This is an excellent opportunity to engage with an international audience of consumers, but it presents additional complications resulting from the neighbourhood’s gaping financial status levels. The restaurant has implemented many effective marketing strategies to overcome these challenges and raise patron engagement and earnings. These tactics include offering daily deals, setting up happy hours, and implementing aggressive pricing policies. Such programs are intended to raise the number of clients and enhance the overall dining wisdom, ensuring the restaurant's longevity as a vital aspect of the local community.

CSR Aspects and Issues Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) indicates that a corporation ought to have an advantageous part as a whole and consider the social and environmental repercussions of its commercial behaviours alongside or in addition to its fiscal and socioeconomic aims. It is closely linked to sustainability - creating economic, social, and ecological values - and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance). Without question, all three focus on non-financial elements that any organization, large or small, must consider when making business choices. An insight into CSR and potential areas of focus and challenges that restaurant chains like Moxie's face. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) stands for the efforts made by an organization to contribute to communities and its resources apart from the company's primary monetary goals. In restaurants like Moxie's, CSR initiatives include actions to support local communities, reduce environmental impact, promote employee well-being, and more. Here are some potential areas of focus and challenges for a restaurant chain like Moxie's: Sustainable Sourcing: To reduce the ecological impact of their supply chain, numerous dining establishments are trying to acquire their meals responsibly, including utilizing regionally grown fruit, ethically raised animal products, and ethically caught seafood. One Important Issue, Waste Reduction: One Important Issue, Waste Reduction: Restaurants like Moxies generate significant waste, including food waste and packaging. Composting, waste disposal, and reducing plastic that can be reused only once are just a few initiatives to reduce waste that could potentially be used in CSR. In the interview, we were informed that it is one of the most challenging aspects to control and deal with daily. Although they try to follow sustainability guidelines, it is an aspect that can certainly be improved. Even this aspect can be consulted with professionals to analyze
the volume of waste, types, and frequencies so that a plan can be designed according to the needs of Moxies in each franchise that operates in North America, as there is no doubt that general programs work. Still, an adequate and adjusted strategy could make a big difference and collaborate in solving or optimizing this issue that generates so much CSR. The manager told us that Moxies’s locations are sustainable, and we source from all the big companies and distributors; a corporation with a system setup needs to be sustainable over a long period. They work daily to improve food waste, for example, chips. The company is attempting to address the issue of excessive chip production through trial and error, aiming to minimize the ecological and economic impact of the process by adjusting the prepared chip volume. The manager interviewed says they should discuss this with the preparer to analyze how to reduce this waste. Still, as mentioned above, a professional would be more appropriate to investigate this case to design an efficient strategic plan. Community Engagement: Interacting with neighborhood groups through charitable donations, event sponsorships, and collaborations with local organizations may demonstrate a commitment to giving back and helping the areas in which the restaurants operate. Diversity and Inclusion: Promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace and ensuring fair treatment of all workers may be essential CSR components. This entails reasonable opportunity, adequate pay, and a courteous work environment. In this regard, Moxies maintains a position of outstanding accessibility without relation to shade, gender, religion, or culture, not only for its clients but also for the employees who work for it. When there are events, like in this community, that are very LGBT focused, the interviewee states that they try to get people from Davie Street to participate in athletics shows, for example, during lunch and dinner.
As far as training is concerned, he says it is delicious, emphasizing how to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable, focusing on the human resources of the corporate restaurant. On the contrary, the interviewee states that in some restaurants, for example, the Japanese restaurant, everybody speaks Japanese. But at Moxies, the doors are open to welcome diversity. Employee Well-Being: Perks, training programs, and exciting places of employment may encourage employees' wellness and boost a company's CSR efforts. Health and Nutrition: Customers may commit to fostering healthy lives by providing more nutritious food options and nutritional information. Energy-Efficient Restaurant Practices: Energy-efficient restaurant practices can assist in reducing carbon footprints and operational costs. Transparency: Honesty about procurement, the cooking of food, and various other operational challenges may develop confidence in customers concerned about the origin and quality of their food. Cases of Health Service Report An Alberta Health Services (AHS) health inspector shut down a local Moxie's Classic Grill restaurant situated at 9521 Franklin Avenue in Fort McMurray, Alberta, in November 2012 owing to major breaches of the Public Health Act. The inspector's investigation pointed out a number of concerning situations that presented an imminent risk to both health and safety: Dirty Containers and Equipment: The report highlighted messy containers directly in contact with food products, unsanitary ice scoops, unclean cutting boards, and containers with cooked food that must be appropriately cleaned and maintained.

Cross-Contamination: Nutrition and other potentially toxic items did not have adequate security to prevent cross-contamination. Two examples are improper food storage and a container of veggies placed right on top of sprouts. Unsafe Food Storage: High-risk food items were found at room temperature, violating food safety regulations. Containers of cooked chicken, rice, sausages, and pasta were observed at improper temperatures. Improper Pest Control: Flies within the facility indicated inappropriate pest control measures. Improper Thawing: Raw fish was observed being thawed improperly in a water container. General Cleanliness: The average hygiene of the business was deplorable, with the flooring and walls contaminated with nourishment, particles, and greasy. According to the study, unsanitary equipment, poor food protection, incorrect storage, pest management, and facility cleanliness were breaches of the Public Health Act and regulations. (Fwynnyk,2012) The health inspector ordered the immediate closure of Moxie's restaurant until corrective action was taken. The order included requirements to clean food, contact surfaces, and equipment, address the unsatisfactory cleanliness of the facility, and ensure that all listed violations were rectified. Moxie's reopened after addressing the issues outlined in the report. A statement from the VP of Operations for Eatz Enterprises, which operated multiple Moxie's restaurants, acknowledged the diligence of Alberta Health Services, and stated the commitment to maintaining high standards for the health and safety of guests. It also mentioned that the initial response to the closure had wrongly blamed a malfunctioning fan rather than health
violations. The report concludes with information about the right to appeal the decision and contact details for the Public Health Appeal Board. What The Company Says About This Issue They acknowledge receiving several complaints about hygiene issues, including online reports we can access. Still, their response today is that these issues have been overcome and that all locations comply with the current hygiene and safety regulations and follow the rules in due form. Moxies Clean and Health Companies emphasize that the well-being and welfare of consumers and teammates are the primary anxiety. Moxies aims to ensure customers feel confident and safe while eating their dishes, so they have developed Moxies Pure Clean in collaboration with Procter & Gamble Professional to improve hygiene standards and cleaning procedures. For example, they ensure frequent disinfection of high-contact areas, thoroughly cleaning all areas every night after closing. The use of disinfectants effective against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) and other viruses and bacteria is emphasized, e.g., tables are only sometimes prepared and are disinfected after each use. As for the staff, they use suitable gloves for carrying food, serving at the tables, cleaning the tables, and cleaning the tables for rubbish removal. Finally, we are informed that these issues are challenging to control entirely about the use of plastic packaging, care of the environment, avoiding pollution, handling waste, etc. Swot Analysis
Strengths A restaurant establishment recognized for its extensive menu, excellent cuisine, and bringing ambiance. This increases their brand value. Moxie has a wide range of options in their menu which caters customers interest and make them visit again and try their different cuisines. It has 50 restaurants in Canada, which makes it accessible to people living in different parts of the country. The location of each restaurant is on the busiest streets which makes it more popular and busier. They make sure that the chefs at all their locations are given an established recipe at all the locations so that customers can enjoy the same taste of food at every location. Weaknesses As most of their locations are in busier areas, they have to face a lot of competition from other restaurants, especially during the weekdays. Despite their efforts to address the issue by instituting social times, companies will never be able to completely eradicate competition. They don’t have events like live shows to entertain the customers. It's just that there is television which plays the sports channel. They should increase their seating to cater to the rush of customers on the weekends. clients were often forced to wait an hour for a table, causing them to lose clients. Their support for customers should also be prioritized considering it is inappropriately sluggish. When there are reduced culinary professionals in the restaurant's kitchen, the time that it takes for the meal to be served doubles. When we interviewed the manager, we could see that they still have not figured out how to reduce the waste the restaurant produces every day, which is due to leftovers.

Opportunities The restaurant updates its menu from time to time to maintain the interest of customers. Also, they clearly state the ingredients of every dish in order to give the customer clear information in case someone is allergic they can order accordingly. Adopting sustainable techniques can help improve the brand's reputation. This includes reducing waste of food, less use of plastic, sourcing their food items from local vendors, and taking care of their community. Apart from this, consider the dietary habits of people and give them healthy food keeping in mind the allergen foods as well. Handling customers' concerns by making the food alterations as demanded, having a different kid’s menu, and a friendly environment. Threats The major fear of competition from both the established as well as upcoming restaurant concepts in the market may affect the market share. The dine in restaurants cannot cut down on their cost as they have more expenses than the one’s who only provide carry outs. And a customer will always choose a cheaper option which will always be a pressure. The ongoing recession has made people prefer homemade food rather than dining out. With the rising inflation it has become difficult for the restaurant as well to have more margins as their expenses are increasing. Nowadays, people prefer to have healthier food and also on being sustainable which is again a big challenge. Providing customers diverse food items according to the market demand is not an easy task again as they need more chefs who are well trained to make those dishes and more ingredients.

Government incentives and programs supporting small businesses, or the restaurant industry could also impact the restaurant's financial planning. Like any other business, Moxie's went to thoroughly research and navigate these political factors to ensure a smooth and successful restaurant opening in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Creating a virtual presence through websites and social media is crucial for marketing and client involvement programs. Modern kitchen technology improves efficiency and food quality. Payment processing systems accommodate various payment methods, providing Wi-Fi and guest amenities. Customers and staff stay safeguarded by safety precautions. Data analytics tracks sales trends and operational efficiency. Regulation adherence and use of eco-friendly technology lower operating expenses and environmental effects. It should be noted that the specific technical challenges addressed by Moxie's or any other dining establishment could differ due to their company's approach to business, target demographic, budget, and location. To obtain specific information about Moxie's restaurant in Vancouver, customers may need to contact the restaurant directly or consult any accessible
record-keeping or statements from the firm laying out their technology decisions for the particular spot. Environmental Aspects Vancouver needs market research from another company that compares legal compliance, demographic information, economic analysis, provider testing, ads, bank data, consumer feedback, critiques, and endorsements with technological advances. The objective is to cater the food, price, and marketing tactics to the locals while also taking the economy of Vancouver, seasonal climatic fluctuations, and the availability of qualified employees into account. The restaurant must also consider the accessibility of qualified personnel, regional labour regulations, and salary rates. The objective is to establish a prosperous business in Vancouver. Such constitutes a few of the external variables that a food establishment company, Moxie's, might take into account when considering developing an establishment in Vancouver or another city. These particular characteristics and their meaning could shift with respect to the idea behind the eatery and market objective. Legal Aspects Moxie's, a dining establishment in British Columbia, must use several company forms, such as a corporation, sole proprietorship, or restricted liability partnership, to meet liability, taxation, and compliance standards. The restaurant must also register with the Registrar of Companies and obtain necessary business licenses and permits. The food and beverage laws, comprising safety and sanitation specifications, were critical, and if booze is served, an alcoholic beverage license is required. Professional regulations, including wage requirements, work hours, working overtime, and security in the workplace, have become crucial. Building and zoning regulations, environmental regulations, intellectual property rights, tax
obligations, contracts with supplier landlords, franchise agreements, accessibility and discrimination laws, insurance coverage, and compliance with British Columbia's employment standards are also crucial. The aforementioned represents several of the most fundamental legal issues for Moxie's or any new restaurant established in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Interaction with lawyers and administrative organizations is important to ensure that everyone complies with all legal rules and laws. Moxie's, a well-known restaurant establishment noted for its handmade food and its dedication to quality, is expanding successfully throughout Canada and the United States. However, several aspects of the chain's performance and sustainability require improvement. First, the restaurant must prioritize its CSR activities, such as procuring sustainable foods and supporting diversity and inclusion. Implementing a thorough waste reduction plan and engaging with specialists can help you achieve your CSR objectives. Moxie's success is dependent on community participation since its position in a varied neighbourhood allows it to connect with a diverse spectrum of clients. Strengthening links with local organizations, supporting community activities, and contributing to neighbourhood well-being may all help Moxie's brand and customer loyalty. Happiness for staff and client satisfaction are other critical issues that must be addressed immediately. Moxies should maintain rigorous hygiene and safety standards across all locations. The restaurant should explore broadening its menu to meet changing client demands for more nutritious and environmentally friendly alternatives. Considering economic hurdles, Moxie's should keep innovating in restaurant firms while responding to consumer preferences and the developments in the financial landscape. and labor laws. Regular legal consultations and staying informed about local regulations are crucial to avoid potential setbacks. ( Bush, 2023b) Conclusion Moxie's is a widely recognized eatery business that began with a long tradition and an international reputation for handmade meals, distinctive drinks, and fantastic customer service. However, the chain can improve its operations and sustainability in some areas. One fundamental improvement is in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which could involve more sustainable sourcing of ingredients, waste reduction, and environmental initiatives. Building stronger relationships with local organizations and participating in community activities can strengthen the brand and connect with diverse customers. Happiness among staff members and customer service is critical, and restaurants should invest in developing a happy work atmosphere, treating employees fairly, and implementing efficient kitchen operations. Adding healthier and more ecologically friendly offerings to its cuisine could assist it in maintaining competitiveness and meeting the rising demand for nutritional eating options. Legal compliance is also essential, especially in health and safety regulations, alcohol licensing, and labour laws. By addressing these areas, Moxie's can enhance its reputation and continue providing memorable dining experiences.
