GRA 280 Module Two Activity Template In this activity, you will define a problem statement and analyze the design needs based on the target audience attributes given in the Module Two Activity Design Brief. Use this template to complete the activity. Replace the bracketed text with your responses. 1. Analyze how the advertisement does not address the preferences of the target audience based on target audience attributes. Consider the following questions: a. What are some specific examples of the target audiences’ preferences not being met, or ignored, in the advertisement? The current advertisement ignores the following targeted audience preferences: the color scheme is supposed to represent earth tones like green, blue-green, brown, and light brown, organic foods are missing from the advertisement to help promote a healthy lifestyle, Some of the typography in the current ad is embellished instead of simple, the ad doesn't explain that green market is a store for locally sourced organic foods and minimally processed foods. b. Why might the target audience not understand the organization’s message in the advertisement? The targeted audience might misinterpret the current ad's message due to the lack of information about the green market and the organic food products being sold there which will cause the organization to lose customers who are specifically looking for sustainable locally sourced organic foods. If the current problems are not addressed the company will lose more than just customers, the advertisement could affect supermarket sales for the company. How might we effectively communicate green trends commitments for locally grown sustainable organic foods to current and future customers? 2. Define a problem statement based on your analysis. Address the following in your problem statement: a. What would the target audience look for in an advertisement for the company? In order to communicate effectively with the target audience age group of 35-75 it is essential to show food products that will positively influence their health. b. What should be the broad goals of the advertisement? The ad should display healthy food choices and the nutritional values and benefits of the product to help aid in the targeted audience's age group. c. What specific problems should the advertisement try to solve? The main issue the advertisement should address is the vague description of the organic foods sold at Green Trends supermarket. The ad must focus on promoting locally grown organic foods and minimally processed foods. The advertisement should be simple in design with an appropriate color scheme that contains clear and visible graphics that help eliminate challenges for the targeted audience. The ad should be more educational, persuasive, and informative. 3. Identify the design needs for the advertisement based on the analysis and problem statement. Address the following in your response:
a. Analyze the relevance of images, readability and legibility of fonts, and appropriateness of color choices in the advertisement. The image chosen for the advertisement is irrelevant and does not meet the targeted audience's preferences due to it being a food that is labeled as not healthy or organic. The fonts chosen for the ad make it hard to read and understand. It is essential when picking fonts for advertisements to make sure they are readable so the audience can easily read, comprehend, and retain the information provided in the ad. b. What are the design needs of key components like images, fonts, and colors in the advertisement? The first design need for the advert would be the color choices. The current color choices are bright and bold colors that could affect the targeted audience age group's eyes and are inappropriate for the targeted age group. The targeted audience needs more soothing colors like light shades of green, brown, and yellow. The fonts that were chosen for the current ad clash and cause readability issues. The design needs sans-serif and serif-type fonts to ensure readability and legibility. The last component needed for the design is the image choices. The current image does not represent green trends in healthy organic food products. The images for the advert should contain food products that reflect an active healthy lifestyle that caters to the targeted audience. People in the targeted audience age group are likely to be interested in minimally processed foods and locally grown organic foods that promote nutritional values and benefits.
