Review the files required in order for you to complete these questions.
1.
Organisation, group or work area you are basing this project on.
Expedia Group
2.
Details of your two team members (can be 2 other students).
Customer service team:
Customer service teams’ focus on providing the best possible CX before and after a customer
purchases a product. They also specialize in customer retention and solve complex issues that
frustrate customers. The customer service team is the face of the organization and the frontline
when customers require assistance.
Information and technology team:
IT teams are the stewards of the company's portfolio of technology investments. Not only are they
responsible that systems are operating properly to keep the business running, but also manage the
total cost of ownership of IT systems and make technology-lifecycle decisions.
Activity 2.2 – Work Process 1
3.
Detail the workplace process you have identified as needing to be implemented or improved.
Organisation produces IP in the form of copyrighted material or wishes to protect trade secrets.
Team develops IP but needs to avoid infringing on the copyrighted material of others.
4.
How does the process currently work?
It's critical to ensure that security is maintained. Choose a strong trademark and register it as soon
as possible to make it easier to defend in court if necessary.
5.
What needs to be improved?
In addition, the trademark should be updated on a regular basis, used consistently, and registered.
In addition, we should keep an eye out for new products and businesses. On their trademarks, they
also utilize images and text.
6.
What are the current intellectual property risks associated with this process?
Current intellectual property risks
Copyright of trade mark
Hacking, malware, and viruses are all threats to IT systems.
7.
What policies and procedures need to be considered when deciding on a solution?
Policies and procedures
All staff will receive a username and password for accessing the computer system.

All emails sent by an individual representing the company, should be treated in the same
way as written correspondence. All outgoing emails must include salutations and the staff
member’s signature.
The workplace has the right to read, monitor, track, record, copy or delete the contents of a
staff member’s mailbox at its discretion.
The workplace may be liable for what staff writer in email messages.
Commercially confidential information may not be transmitted to competitors, affiliates,
other organisations and external entities or persons of the workplace and its clients.
Staff must store files as they are created and/or adjusted on the file server in the folder
relevant to the area that it relates to.
Staffs are not permitted to connect their personal computers, mobile phones, tablets or
other devices to the work network.
If a staff member becomes aware of email or internet misuse, they should report it
immediately to senior management for investigation.
8.
Include compliance with intellectual property legislation and regulations in your response.
The inadvertent or malicious exfiltration of sensitive or secret information is one possible effect of a
successful cyber-attack (i.e., personally identifiable information). Legal can help assess the severity
of the information disclosure, the impact it has on partners, customers, and/or investors, and
determine if (when required) notification of the data exposure must be distributed in collaboration
with other teams within the organization (i.e., privacy, public, and corporate affairs).
9.

could improve this process.
Include information on:
why these two options are fit for the
purpose of improving the process.
how these solutions are more
innovative than the process currently
being used.
issues or considerations for using
these particular technologies or
applications
Option 1 Trademarks
Trademarks can protect words, phrases, symbols, and
logos that identify one's goods or services. A trademark
registration can last forever, as long as it's continued to be
used in business, and is renewed every 10 years. This
makes the trademark one of the most crucial IP
protections for businesses.
A business' intellectual property makes sure the business
is reliably recognizable for patrons. This means that you
won't be able to trademark a logo that is similar to one of
your competitors if it could cause confusion among
consumers.
Option 2 Copyright
Copyrights protect written and artistic works for the
lifetime of the creator, plus 70 years.
These creative works are the tangible representation of
the creator's original ideas, since ideas themselves can't
be protected. Copyrights can protect manuscripts, novels,
song lyrics, paintings, photographs, sound recordings, and
more.
A copyright exists the moment the author creates the
original work, but registration provides copyright owners
with exclusive and enhanced rights. It can help enforce
their rights against infringement through litigation and
allows owners to seek monetary damages and attorneys’
fees if there is a lawsuit.

Trademarks
Trademarking is an important step for protecting your brand identity. It will stop competitors from
poaching your customers by imitating your brand. It can also offer you some protection if those
copycats do something reputation-damaging.

Management of documents: The ideal approach to handle data is to use a cloud-based
document management solution. Apart from data management, they also serve other
uses. Employees can use them as adaptable learning platforms to get the information
they need in the order they need it. These platforms' powerful search tools have made it
simple to find any file across the business. Employees may collaborate on any type of
data. Document management systems have progressed to become sophisticated tools
with analytics capabilities for all structured data.
12.
How does the process currently work?
Collaboration and communication are essential: Apart from allowing employees to
communicate news and other pertinent information, it can also be a useful tool for
analyzing team and individual participation in the digital workplace. Workplace social
networks that are thoughtfully built can also help reduce distractions by providing
algorithm-based appropriate posts. Understanding and appreciating digital abilities and
boundaries can help people cultivate a healthy digital culture. Chatbots are becoming
more prevalent in both internal and external environments. They can be simple algorithm-
based replies or sophisticated AI-based algorithms with a broader range of language and
conversation understanding capabilities.

innovative, nonobvious, and useful inventions (or
discoveries), such as a novel process, the machine,
article of manufacture, or composition of matter.
When a property owner owns a patent, others are
legally prohibited from selling, manufacturing, or
utilising the product.
Option 2 Trade secrets
Trade secrets are confidential information that is
valuable to a company because it gives it a
competitive advantage in its market. If a corporation
acquires a trade secret, it may cause harm to the
original owner.
Recipes for various foods and beverages innovative
innovations, software, processes, and even various
marketing methods are examples of trade secrets.
Others cannot replicate or steal an idea if a person
or company has trade secret protection. Businesses
must actively conduct in a manner that reveals their
willingness to safeguard information to establish it as
a "trade secret" and to receive the legal protections
associated with trade secrets.
Trade secrets are protected even if they are not
officially registered;
nonetheless, a trade secret owner whose rights have
been violated–for example, if someone steals their
trade secret–can ask a court to take action against
that person and prevent them from utilising the trade
secret.

Now that you have reviewed the options, choose your preferred option and explain why

Patents
A patent gives you the right to stop others from copying, manufacturing, selling or
importing your invention without your permission. See protecting intellectual property. You
get protection for a pre-determined period, allowing you to keep competitors at bay. You
can then use your invention yourself.
