Module Leader: Salvena Hussain Romeo Motoi
Introduction: This template should be used to record your reflections on the weekly sessions. Please use the spaces provided to reflect on what was discussed in class, what you gained from the session; did you find the content useful, how can you relate it to your studies at university as a business student. You will also need to discuss how you intend to further develop the skills discussed in class. This is a continuous process and should be completed during the module and not at the end. In week 8 you will be expected to submit what you have completed so far, via Blackboard, in order to receive feedback. You will then complete weeks 9 and 10 and summatively submit the journal in week 14. The Weekly Reflective Journal will be used in conjunction with your Personal Learning and Development Plan and Interview to work out the final grade for this module. Submission of all parts of the assessment are required in order to receive a grade. Week 1 Please describe in less than 200 words what was discussed in this session and how you plan to develop these skills. This week we had a zoom meeting in which we discussed organizational things such as study hours, how we will get grades in this module and how the hours will go from now on. After that we quickly went through the course. The course is about personal development and the accumulation of new knowledge. We will learn to make a personal analysis, which I find very interesting because so far I have only heard of this in companies. Other topics that we will discuss will be reflective thinking, reflective writing but also the keys to a successful presentation.
Week 2 Please describe in less than 200 words what was discussed in this session and how you plan to develop these skills. Week 3 Please describe in less than 200 words what was discussed in this session and how you plan to develop these skills. Continuing the way of personal development and personal learning we discussed a topic that will help us in the future, namely personal swot analysis. This method helps me to discover myself better, to think about the future opportunities I may have, but also how I can change certain actions to evolve. In this way I have a discussion with myself in which I ask myself questions and I must also answer myself in a sincere way. After doing such an analysis, I realized what I could improve on myself, but also what advantages I have over others. I was also disappointed to learn that there are certain threats I encounter even at school that directly affect me. In life, I make decisions all the time, and with the help of personal learning courses, I understand that these decisions will influence me more or less in the future. Once we become able to make rational decisions, they will help us to maximize our quality of life and make the best decisions to solve problems effectively. Also in the second week we discussed the critical thinking that it is a strategy through which we can become aware of certain solutions to solve certain problems. It is important to be our own critic. I believe that we can always make situations much better if we reflect on them and their importance.

Week 4 Please describe in less than 200 words what was discussed in this session and how you plan to develop these skills. Now that we are in college, we need to develop a way of doing things. All the work we do for each course must have a specific academic language and structure. I know the structure very well because I have done such things before. In an essay we must have an introduction, a table of contents based on arguments supported by real life examples or other sources of inspiration, a conclusion of the paper and finally the references, where we note the sources from which we were inspired. The structure itself is not very complicated, but we must understand that it is important to focus on the main idea, not to make a detailed description of the topic, because this differentiates academic writing from other forms of writing. Week 5 Please describe in less than 200 words what was discussed in this session and how you plan to develop these skills. This week we discussed reflective writing and how we can accomplish such work. For a project that we have to carry out we have to draw up a reflective journal, where we have to practice all the skills acquired so far, because here we have to write what we learned, what we liked, but also how it will help us. this ability in the future. Through reflective writing we can figure out what we did right or wrong in that course and how we can improve for future courses. It is important to think about how to present our ideas and in what order because we need to do it chronologically to give readers a good understanding of the content. Unlike academic writing here we do not have to use formal language, but it is also based on examples only this time in our personal life.
Week 6 Please describe in less than 200 words what was discussed in this session and how you plan to develop these skills. Week 7 Please describe in less than 200 words what was discussed in this session and how you plan to develop these skills. Use a minimum of one academic source and reference this. In the sixth week we talked about the University Library. The university provides us with a library in which we have permanent access to search for anything we need. This library is in online form, I can access it quite easily from my phone whenever I want and I will enter a virtual world of books. After taking a quick look I noticed that it is easy to find anything that interests me and for a certain topic I was looking for I can find many more sources from which I can document myself and from which I can compare one information with another. I've never liked having a large volume of material after me physically, so for me this library is the best thing. In Week Seven, we discussed how we should use references and how we record them in our work. Now that we are at University, we need to adapt to the requirements, and we have noticed that most of the professors in their work use references in the form of those from Harvard. They have a fairly simple structure, but we have to be careful because we have to put the authors in alphabetical order, not in the order in which we use the sources in the works. So if until now I did not give so much importance to these aspects, from now on I have to be very careful because it is also a variant through which we can be graded or scored in exams. 6 Week 8 Please describe in less than 200 words what was discussed in this session and how you plan to develop these skills. Use a minimum of one academic source and reference this. This journal should be formatively submitted for feedback, via Blackboard, at the end of this week. This week we talked again about other important skills for personal development. And this time the main topic was the presentation of a project. When I do a project, I like to focus on the way I present it. It's easiest for me to make a PowerPoint presentation, because I think it has a greater impact on the audience because visual things are easier to remember. But good content is not enough, and the way we convey the message matters a lot. If I just read a monotonous text, I will bore the audience, and next time no one will listen to me. But if we make the presentation a story, things will be easy for both us and others to remember. Week 9 Please describe in less than 200 words what was discussed in this session and how you plan to develop these skills. Use a minimum of one academic source and reference this.
