2 Discussion The proposed piece of legislation that I am talking to is a potential policy that, in the event that it is passed, would make it obligatory for businesses to provide their employees with paid sick leave during times of illness. This piece of legislation has the potential to have a beneficial influence on my community if it enables people who work in my area to take paid sick leave without the risk of losing their employment or their income. It could also have a good impact on the people I care for by ensuring that they have access to the right medical care and will be able to heal without having to worry about the financial ramifications of doing so. These people would see a major improvement in their circumstances as a result of this. Collaborating with persons whose expertise lies in fields of study unrelated to one's own is an absolutely necessary step prior to carrying out the effective implementation of this policy. Employers, workers, and those who provide medical care would need to consult with one another in order to have a holistic knowledge of the policy and the ramifications that it contains (Slopen, 2023). Employees would need to be educated of the rights to which they are entitled, employers would need to be aware of the advantages of granting paid sick leave, and medical professionals would need to be able to provide preventative care to workers who are eligible to benefit from the program. Because of this policy, there is a chance that employers will try to take advantage of it by shortening the amount of time employees work or delegating their responsibilities to other members of the workforce. One of the potential results of enforcing this guideline is the aforementioned consequence. Concerns of a moral nature are raised as a result of the potential for exploitative methods of labor (Chen et al., 2020). In addition, if the policy is excessively
3 stringent, it may result in employees not being able to take advantage of it due to their own personal financial situations or other conditions that are beyond their control. This may be the case even though the policy is intended to benefit employees. Tweet #PaidSick Allowing workers to take sick days off with pay is a policy option that could have a beneficial effect on our society. Successful implementation requires input from experts across disciplines, which raises potential ethical implications if not managed properly. #HealthcarePolicies .
