HUM-100 4-2 Project Draf By Dalton Stiening SNHU 1. Thinking of the work selected, explore how acts of creative expression impact, and are impacted by, the people and situations surrounding them. The War bonnet of the native American tribes of the great plans is a very important piece of cultural art it not only tells a story of the wearer’s accomplishments in battle and life but serves as a powerful symbol of the cultural practices and history of the great plains people. The creative impact of the war bonnet in history was that it normally was adorned with the feathers of eagles and was worn on the battlefield by warriors of the great plain nations such as the Sioux and would represent the strength and victories of the wearers. This impacted the community by being a way to recognize the leaders of the community for a large variety of things such as trade, peacekeeping, war, tribal laws, and marital practices. 2. State questions about the relationship between culture and expression. How does culture help to shape expression? Do different cultures have different views of expression? How do cultural formalities and taboos encourage or limit expression? 3. State questions about your values and how they are shaped by the expression of others. Do the values I possess solely have significance in the community they were fostered in? If raised in a different community would my values be of a different nature? How important are parents, teachers, and peers to the development of my values?
HUM-100 4. Determine how you would go about answering the questions posed. I think to find answers for the first group of questions posed in section two of this paper you would not only have to view different forms of expression from various cultural perspectives but compare the social, economic, and religious influences that shape the formalities of a culture but analyze their differences and their similarities. Whereas the questions posed in section three I have to take an introspective look at the way people I respect and hold in high esteem have influenced what I deem as acceptable in society as well as really examine what values I have that are really mine and which ones are just values I adopted rather than formed of my own experience.
