Compare Jochebed’s actions with Moses to the way mothers protect their children today. Who are our modern-day Miriams?
-Jochebed went hard core to protect Moses from the king’s commandment. This is like modern day mothers because mothers will do anything to save their children from harm’s way even if that includes risking their own life. Our
modern-day Miriam’s are our Sunday school teachers, family and even friends. The ones in my life are trusted to get advice from and would help me
in times of need.
Explain why parents may have a difficult time “ceasing to speak” to their children after testifying to them the way Lehi did with Laman and Lemuel (v. 38). Also discuss why this is a crucial aspect of working with your children.
-Parents have a hard time “ceasing to speak” to their children just like Lehi did with Laman and Lemuel because they love their children so much that they fear for them and want what’s best and would be devastated to see them go astray or get hurt. This is why working with your children is crucial. Working with your kids through their struggles shows that you will support them even when they fail, and you’ll pick them back up. Working with them also means you’ll correct them when wrong and teach them how to be better
and motivate them but still give them their agency.

-Elder Hales 5 important elements of parenting are, hold family councils, leave the door to our hearts open, liken the scriptures to our lives, take advantage of everyday teaching moments, and trust the good Shepard. The benefits of implementing these strengthen our families, the spirit will help us
learn how we can help and teach our children, and the holy ghost will fill heart with love, forgiveness, and compassion. These elements build unity, trust, compassion, and charity if we put in the work of the five aspects listed above.
