Select a sculpture that represents the Renaissance's "rebirth" of Greek concepts and stylistic elements. Identify two stylistic elements that represent the Classical influence. Identify how this work represents the departure from Classical influence to advance the philosophies of the Renaissance. Hercules and the Centaur Nessus This Renaissance sculpture represents Greek concepts since it shows Hercules which is Greek mythology who is the son of Zeus and one of the most important heroes. The sculpture demonstrates Hercules strength and power. This represents classical influence because this was a myth that occurred during this period. Another classical influence is the belief of humanism which is the beauty of the human body and the interaction or relationships between humans. However, it shows the departure from classical since it
shows movement and feelings that are coming off and being felt from the sculpture. One of the feelings is the strength and courage of the mortal man.
